: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Watching EYBL this morning.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Swish is bad. No two ways around it.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Storm guard DeJesus is nice. They seem to lack a go to scorer. But better overall first impression than I thought for this year's squad.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : WCP about to start playing, as well as Stars.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Many of these girls have horrible shooting form. It's hard to watch at times. And everyone presses than falls back into a crappy zone. It would be interesting to see if anyone actually has the ability and intelligence to play anything else.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : So your upset others are playing zone which by your account is best defense against poor shooting. You say they can't shoot or have bad form. Why play where they can beat you off the dribble. Here is a thought instead of playing all these games maybe the players need to just work on their fundamentals and shoot and lift in the off season. If they had an off season.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : No one teaches defense in club for the most part, outside of various traps, presses, and general zones.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : As far as the last post, I'm not sure what that person is saying but I suppose from a simplistic standpoint, zone would be a option for "poor" shooting, but there is much more that goes into defense than those kinds of generalisations. I would play man always if I felt my team had the ability to do so, even against bad shooters. Better man to man box out responsibilities allowing quicker transition, and minimizing loss of rebounds from long bounces off of poor shots.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : California teams this year are not expected to be elite level on the circuit, outside of Cal Stars. We'll see if anyone proves this sentiment incorrect.

: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : WCP - lost
: : : : : : : : : : : : Sparks - lost
: : : : : : : : : : : : Swish - lost
: : : : : : : : : : : : Storm - won
: : : : : : : : : : : : Stars - won big

: : : : : : : : : : : : Another round later

: : : : : : : : : : : I WOULD HOPE STARS WIN BIG AGAINST THE SORRYIEST TEAM ON NIKE CIRCUIT LOL

: : : : : : : : : : Yikes...hard to watch girls that wouldn't make some the other teams 16u roster. I feel for Russ cause he is a good guy but he has to do better and get some better players.

: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Russ is a good guy and a fantastic coach. And there are a couple nice pieces on that team. But there are no give-me-the-ball-you-can't-stop-me players.

: : : : : : : : : I think part of the reason is you just don't see him out recruiting for Swish during high school season (probably due to Vanguard duties to some extent). Every tourney our team played in the last couple years Brian and Elbert or someone from their teams were at. Plus, the other programs have a youth program to draw from as a base.

: : : : : : : : : But, going back to only having two teams - put the best talent on WCP and Swish and watch those teams compete. And get way better from April to July. Brian and Russ can flat out coach.

: : : : : : : : Giving Russ way too much credit.

: : : : : : : I agree. Brian is the head coach of the Mt. Sac Women's basketball team and teaches there as well, so when exactly does he has time to recruit? And Swish has been around way longer that WCP. What is stopping Russ from setting up a youth program that is ran without him being hands on? That's what Brian has done.

: : : : : : Not sure if RD’s heart is in it and may just be doing it for the money.

: : : : :
: : : : : Any updates on the 2nd half of the day???

: : : :
: : : : CalStars/Cal Storm went 2-0
: : : : Everyone else donut. WCP 15U last year played as a unit, this year 1 player trying to go 1 on 5 is killing them...guess who lol. Sparks and Swish are just bad. Bad move for Elbert Sparks playing an 8th grader on his top team. She is not even close to being ready to compete on that level.

: : : Right, that one person turned this last year 15u National runner up into her previous team. Everyone standing around waiting for her to do something, wtf.

: : WCP can “flat out coach”? Sure doesn’t seem like it. I thought they were supposed to be the cream of the crop for SoCal eybl teams. Storm looks like a less talented but better coached team. Stars would spank WCP

: Easy Stars lol. Playing with the those weak teams dont mean you are the cream of the crop. At least wcp playing the better teams on the circuit.

No excuse for 0-3, it's the coaching.
