: : : : : : Every game counts against a 28 game limit.

: : : : : : It used to be 20 game limit and you could play 3 tournaments that counted as two games each.

: : : : : 5 game tourney
: : : : : 4 game tourney
: : : : : 3 game tourney
: : : : : 3 game toruney
: : : : : 2 non-league
: : : : : 1 showcase
: : : : : 10 league

: : : : : 28 total

: : : : Blue book for next year I dont believe is officially posted yet but you can call Rainer at CIF Office and he can verify.

: : : You can schedule 28 games. Each tournament game counts as a game. No more tournaments counting as two games any more.

: : so tournaments might lose its appeal since it is better to get games knowing who you will play than what ever the tournament decide to put in front of you. Schools use the tournament to get more games in season. example play 4-5 games and count as 2 in the CIF

:
: I don't think tourneys will lose their appeal so much as people will be more selective as to what tourneys they get into.

: Since the stupid .500 rule is still in place, people are really going to want to be in either weaker or only somewhat competitive tourneys. And they are going to want guarantees from tourney directors that similar level teams are in the tourney and not powerhouses.

: I also think the popularity of the 2-3 game tourneys will go up as their is greater certainty of who you may play.

Do you realize how difficult it is to schedule head to head games compared to just entering a tournament. When dealing with head to head games you have some many more variables to deal with than simply entering a tournament and being guaranteed 3 to 5 games. Head to head games, is it two levels, three levels or just one. What about the boys teams who practice at the same site, is the gym available for the amount of time. I am pretty sure tournaments will still have a very good appeal for most programs because it is the easiest way to get more games in a rather simple way.
