: : : : : : Aquino got the publicity but Pendande got the awards. I saw Ribet a few times and was not very impressed with either thought I thought Aquino had more potential. Both are headed for Pac 12 schools so good for them but did people get so caught up with PR that 6'9" Aquino is considered the 7th best player in the nation?

: : : : : : Pendande got both the Wooden Award as well as the LA Times All Star team.

: : : : : : And not trying to start anything with the Ribet faithful but how does a team with two post players like this underachieve?

: : : : : They should have been able to score - or at least get a shot on the block - every possession of every game.

: : : : : And if they missed, the other - or Mensah - could have cleaned up the glass.

: : : : : No knock on the team. It's all about the coaching.

: : : : Had all the pieces to make a great run but coaches donít understand about empowering their players. Would scream and yell at them and get mad when they make mistakes...I know itís high school but players are still developing...duh so for these coaches to have this type of demeanor in this day and age leaves a very bad taste in my mouth

: : : They should have stayed at Division 2 where they belong.

: : : How did she get wooden Division 2 award if they played in the Open CIF and division 1 State?

: : I thought Aquino was overrated but she was not helped by the coaching. I saw her at the start and at the finish and there was no improvement at all. I know she'll do better at Oregon State with coaches and a great point guard but I still have problems seeing her as a Div. 1 talent. I think Pendande can do something in a few years at Utah.

: : Sad that Aquino came to LA and got such a poor high school experience. It seemed like the coach made up for his lack of knowledge by yelling at the players.

:
: I think her potential will be tapped by the excellent coaching staff at Oregon State.

: She has good tools to work with, but hasn't really been developed and/or played against a lot of top competition.

: She moves pretty well but doesn't seem to jump very high. Can she dunk? Not that it is important except that if at 6'9" you can't dunk you just aren't very athletic. And if she can't, I bet a year from now she can.

: Also, it will help her being able to practice day after day with bigger and stronger players.

: I wouldn't be surprised to see her redshirt next year, get some weight/muscle on her and then be a solid contributor the following year.

OSU recruited Joanna Grymek who was, incredibly a JC AA and she's one of the worst players I've ever seen in the Pac. Talk about lack of coordination, she can barely walk without tripping. She's 6'8" but there's no chance for her. Aquino might do something as an upperclassman but I believe she'll be nowhere near an impact player. I also think she might have some trouble adapting in Corvallis. I think Morris might make a bigger splash at OSU.
