: : q: : : : : Just checking with other coaches. We were just told by our AD that the school is having a mandatory Dead period for all sports from June 1-June 22, we are not allowed any contact with our athletes? Does anyone else take their dead period for Basketball this early? Just checking?

: : : : : : Its called a lazy AD. All sports need to declare a dead period but you can declare any 21 period you want. Your AD doesn't want to ask all of your varsity sports coaches and submit 20 different answers so he chose for all of you. Very poor timing as June is a huge HS month for summer basketball. Call him/her out on it

: : : : : Probably Aprils Fool joke! 99.9% of schools take their dead period the 3 weeks before school starts and most have a 5 week dead period for hoops because travel ball is Active in July. June travel ball for HS players is dead.

: : : : Not an April's Fool Joke, was told by the A.D. that all sports will have the same dead period this year June1-June21. Tried to negotiate but was told NO that's the way it will be!

: : : Be careful in some sections you canít start dead period until school is out.

: Our last day of school is June 1.

I can't think of a single legitimate reason for a school to force all of its teams to have the same dead period. Moronic. One of the stupidest things I have ever heard of from an athletic department.
