: : Redondo Union and Canyon appear to be ranked higher than they should be. Ribet looks to be ranked high also, but they'll have a chance Saturday to prove that wrong.
: Top 5 teams except Harvard-Westlake is still playing so they have chance to move up. The Rest will be watching it on TV or from side lines
They are ok for a general idea, but when you look at specific teams, you have to shake your heads.
For example, look at Alemany and Chaminade. Alemany ranked ahead of Chaminade, but Chaminade beat Alemany 3 times - including twice at Alemany.
And while I know any team can win on a given night, Granada just beat Bishop Montgomery. Now, if you want to keep BM ahead of GH, I'm ok with it. But 60 spots?
I think a lot of the problem comes from initial rankings - what are they based on? Because if it is a computer doing it, and there are 500 teams that are 6-0, how does the computer know which one is better?
I would guess it somehow figures in last year, but that could lead to big errors based on graduation, transfers (in/out), etc. And that initial error carries out through the whole season.
Anyone have any ideas?
