: What is needed to start a new club team? Do you setup like any other personal business? Do you register with AAU? Any help will be appreciated.
If you are jumping into the fray to make $$$...good luck.
If you do it the right way...You need to register as a business like all others. Then you will need to get liability insurance, not only to cover yourself but many gyms will not let you rent them without it.
Then you need gym time. Which is not easy or cheap to come by.
You do not need to register with AAU unless you want to play in AAU tournaments. Most girls tourneys are not AAU.
Then you need to find players who will pay you to be in your club. Depending on your area, there are already a bunch of them with good or bad reputations. You will need to differentiate yourself from the crowd.
If you are a good, positive coach that is strong with developing players, then build from youth up. Because the high school club scene is pretty nasty. The top kids mostly all play EYBL or the very top next level teams. The lower local teams all discredit each other to try to get whoever else they can. It is hard to just "start" a competitive high school team.
Not tying to be negative or dissuade you, but just wanted to throw some reality into the conversation.
