: I am a win only coach and winning titles would make me much happier.

: So how do you even go about a recruiting player? Especially to a struggling public school. Yes I know private schools have things to offer but what about the public schools. Could anyone tell me the ways of recruiting a player?

There are a lot of traditionally bad schools that have large enrollments in the division 5A, 5AA, 5AAA. Those schools, with these larger enrollments, need a coach who is willing to build the program a couple of years. Take a group of freshmen and keep them together at the lower levels the first two years. Let your varsity take it on the chin, while this lower group of girls develop, experience success and build confidence. As they get older, add the better incoming freshmen to the group. By the time they are all juniors, they may be able to compete in their league a little better, and with some creative scheduling, get that .500 record that you need. Now, you are a program at a school with 1800 students, 30 plus kids in your program, and you are competing against schools with 93 kids and 8 kids in their programs. You have a two year window to win a title, and once you do, then you hope that success carries over as you move up divisions. You don't have to recruit. A lot of these traditionally bad public schools are going to be target locations for coaches to to go build a resume and win a CIF title.
