: : : : : : Got to watch the Open Division Final this evening. Game was marred by lots of whistles and foul trouble. Refs don't understand its not about them. Let the girls play. Both ways. Nobody wants to pay all that money to see stars sit on the bench. Its like this every Final. The male official was the worst of the crew.

: : : : : : Windward played very well early, especially defensively. Osborne was the best player on the court and the scheme for Windward backing off both twins worked. Osborne is a wonderful product of Cal Sparks and GBL. Neither twin would take a shot outside the paint. So tough to see how these two have so much skill and haven't improved from the wing. I think they work with Nolan from Culver City and played club with Storm. Not sure why those coaches allow them to be so deficient. Hopefully they will improve their skills in College. They are going to UC Irvine. Windward guards besides Osborne weren't great either and combined for only one three. Post from HW played very well. I think she plays with Storm. It was an ugly game with two great coaches but not a great play. The Wildcats got it done. Hopefully both have a rematch in the Open State Final. Does anyone know how many teams they take?

: : : : : I thought the twins were going to Pepperdine, but anyway
: : : : : State Open Division is 16 teams total, 8 in the South region
: : : : : Breakdown last year was 4 from the Southern Section, 2 from San Diego, 1 from LA City and 1 from Central BUT it is up to CIF state, they can alter the number from each section to fill the bracket. Usually they will leave the 4 from Southern Section but then take 2 from one other section and then 1 and 1 but it is not set in stone which section they will take two from.

: : : : : btw last year the one representative from the Central was the South region champion in the Open

: : : : It is a 16 team bracket for the Southern Regional for a total of 32 teams for the State Tournament just like last year.

: : : Actually the twins are going to Pepperdine.

: :
: : 1. Twins from HW are going to Pepperdine.
: : 2. Post from HW plays at TVT
: : 3. State OPEN regional is 8 teams from So Cal (SS, SD, Central, City). There will be four teams from SS - Windward, HW, Etiwanda, and Mater Dei. The other four Open teams are in D1 for State. While CIF can pick the other four teams for Open Regional from other sections as they see fit, there are only four SS teams. The other brackets for State (D1, D2, D3, D4, D5) are 16 teams from So Cal.

: Correcting myself here...they changed the rule so CIF can put as many teams as they want from each Section in the OPEN regional. Based on that, Bishop Montgomery may sneak in as the fifth team. But that could be impacted by the City Championship. Whoever wins will go to Open, but if Granada Hills wins, then the last spot could go down to Fairfax vs. Bishop Montgomery, and Fairfax beat them.

Southern Section is only sending their Semifinalists.
