: : : : Just sad that CIF has ruined basketball by thinking everyone should have a chance to win a trophy.

: : : Disagree. The playoffs are much better now without two rounds of 90-20 scores in every single division. There are still some blowouts, but not nearly as ma

: : : There is no perfect system. Enrollment makes zero sense these days, so a year-by-year power system is probably the best to be had.

: : The best would be just to place teams in divisions by how they did in the current year.

: I agree, but they simply don't have the ability to do that. They would have to put in an RPI system, but that system would have to be monitored and the individual schools would have to participate completely. Even when that is put in place, there would be huge problem dealing with schools outside the system.

: To do this for 500 schools means doing it for nearly 1000 boys and girls teams. That's a lot of work.

The Cif is doing a good job.I think it is great that kids have a post season. I would take it a step further and allow teams to play in a post season tournament by invitation. Why Not? The only thing that CIF could change is that they should not reward teams for playing and losing to tough teams. If your are in a league with , lets say three 20 plus win teams and play them 6 times, that does not neccesarily make you a better team. For example my team plays in a high division because of our leagues strength. But there are teams that beat us by 30 points playing 2 divisions lower.
