: : : : : Pollon does this to grease his pockets full of cash. Charges the players to play. Charges the HS coaches of the players and there are never any college coaches at this game except for the poor old sap from Glendale JC.

: : : : : And really Valley College. Thats the venue???? If it was at CSUN and televised like the old school days I would attend but this event is dying a sloooow death due to the guy that is promoting it.

: : : : : Pollon has burnt so many bridges by his GREED that no one really wants to play in his MONEY GRAB events.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : West should've picked up the Ventura Girl

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : I did not know Ribet was considered in valley

: : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : Ribet not considered part of Daily News coverage area. This is a game run independently and they can invite whoever they want. No doubt they are pulling from some outer areas to get some good players. Camarillo is about as far West as they will go.

: : : : : : : : : : : : This event been running for some time now and Ribet was never ever considered part of this coverage area. Why are we doing it now? Or is this just an opinion of Jack Pollon that Daily News fired.

: : : : : : : : : : : I am not defending jack I am sure he can do that himself janette Mensah played for Ribet last year as a junior war on the woods this is not my opinion it is a fact

: : : : : : : : : : 12 west players 10 east players are they trying to even the teams

: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : These rosters will change many times before the game. This is just a list of who was invited. Most probably haven't replied yet.

: : : : : : : : : And remember, this game has nothing to do with the Daily News. It is run by the Valley Sports Foundation. They can invite whoever they want.

: : : : : : : : it is not a CIF event and most girls that are committed to D1 colleges may not even come to play Especially if they are elite player

: : : : : : : Very few top players ever play. My daughter was invited to one of their games every year and never played. Why would you risk a college offer (or an upcoming club season in earlier years) by playing in one of these? That being said, Jack Pollon is a great guy.

: : : : : : Yes, some of these girls not even the best seniors on their own teams...but per above, the top players don't often play...not because Pollon doesn't put on great events, he does. Just no reason to take a risk.

: : : :
: : : : He charges for the soph/junior events he has in June.

: : : : The seniors don't have to pay to play in this.

: : : Why pay at all if you are the best of your class and you get invited. it dilutes the value so if my daughter is not good enough I give money and she plays. this sounds like Sierra canyon and Matter Dei

: : Confused about your reply.

: : The events he/Valley Sports Foundation puts on are private independent events for the purpose of making money. Despite the misconception, the Daily News had no part in it (except maybe help sponsoring it back when they had a budget for it. LOL).

: : Originally, there was just a senior game. The only charge was for the attendees.

: : Then they added a "future stars" game in June. This was usually incoming seniors, but they started charging the players.

: : Now at that event there is a girls game and multiple boys games and the players pay.

: : But the game for seniors is still a free event for the players.

: Who cares even if they do have to pay a small fee. Competition, sounds good, girls love to play, then let them. Everybody on here always crying about "if your girls good enough, then they shouldn't have to pay, blah, blah, blah". I know some of these girls and they are great players, better than a lot of these "I won't pay to play" players. If your girl didn't get invited, to come on here complaining.

I agree with the last post, we have someone who cares about girls basketball and puts this event together and it's great!!!. Don't be cheep man and all the girls are great players and love the game and is great for them to play with players they play against for 4 years . Pollon keep it going man.
