: : : : : : : : : : Cutting down to 8 teams was confusing until you see the breakdown.
: : : : : : : : : : Best private recruiting schools (+1 public school - same in boys).

: : : : : : : : : You mad bro? Lol

: : : : : : : : The previous poster was just stating the facts. There should be a private school Open and a Public School Open.

: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : There is, it's called City Open.

: : : : : : You make it seem like public schools don't recruit, here is a secret. They do.

: : : : :
: : : : : There are plenty of public schools in SS too. It's not like every school in SS is private.

: : : : : A few years ago I heard of an idea they were kicking around of having a private Open and a public Open and then having the two winners play before State regionals.

: : : : : Guess it never got off the ground.

: : : : That would defeat the purpose of having a true OPEN division. Best play the BEST! EVERYONE recruits...D10 LOL all the way up the line. OPEN is not for the "EVERYONE GETS A TROPHY" crowd. Get better or move over, its that simple.

: : : Yes, a lot of schools recruit. Most don't. Maybe it is just a weird coincidence that private schools are better at basketball (and most other sports) than the public schools. He loves them more. And it would seem that He also loves Catholics more than the Christian labeled schools.

: : Lets not start this nonsense again. Private schools have better teams because they recruit, period. You can say public schools recruit, but c'mon, seriously thats a joke. Public schools have nothing to offer, that is like trying to buy a vote with a rock. Private schools, have much to offer, class sizes, fancy gyms, trips, trainers etc. Bottom line is private schools get the best because they can. It will always be an unfair playing field. Public schools play with what they have and have to develop on their own. They may get lucky once in a while to have a player who stays out of loyalty. Anybody who says different is fooling themselves or just a liar!

: So to the poster are saying a player that goes to a private school is better because they have a fancy gym, smaller class sizes, etc? Most if not all good players at private/public were good before they got there. Than you mention loyalty...what does living in that area (home hs) have to do with loyaty? Kids that want to be good/great have worked hard to become just their options also become plentiful. They should go where they please. Who are you to tell them they are not loyal. Everyone recruits including public schools, well at least the good ones do and if you don't think its true you are fooling yourself.

You completely missed the point. of course a player is NOT better because of a fancy gym, not what I said at all. What I am saying, in regard to recruiting, is a school, public or private, is only going to recruit the best players in the area. If you are a player being recruited by a public school who can offer you... um, 40 + kids in a classroom, old gym, maybe a decent coach, or a private school that can offer 20 kids in a classroom, a trainer, fancy facilities, trips etc, for free or close to free, where is the kid going to go? 9 times out of 10, the private school, obviously. If a public school is able to hold on to a great player and not lose them to a private school, it is usually due to loyalty. I know of a few players who chose to stay public simply because they felt an obligation out of loyalty to their team, and this is rare. Not saying it is wrong, just saying that the fact is, private schools have more to offer, and will most always win out on the recruiting game. Giving private schools the advantage over public schools. A school like Harvard Westlake or Sierra is stacked, compared to the public schools in the area for a reason. Like it or not, it is the truth. Making it tough for public to compete against them.
