: : : : : : How can Redondo still be ranked #1 when they lost to PV a 3AA team? It just goes to show that the CIF is the good old boys club.
: : : : : : These are the CIF rankings as of 01/29/2018
: : : : : : DIVISION 2AA
: : : : : : 1 Redondo Union
: : : : : : 2 Camarillo
: : : : : : 3 Lynwood
: : : : : : 4 Mark Keppel
: : : : : : 5 La Canada
: : : : : : 6 Jserra
: : : : : : 7 Los Osos
: : : : : : 8 Foothill
: : : : : : 9 St. Paul
: : : : : : 10 Cajon
: : : : : : 11 Crescenta Valley
: : : : : : 12 Tesoro
: : : : : : 13 Aliso Niguel
: : : : : : 14 Canyon/Anaheim
: : : : : : 15 Yucaipa
: : : : : : 16 Norco
: : : : : : St. Paul should be out 1-4 in league losing 4 in a row, J Serra, Canyon, & Norco is 12-13 overall should be out too, even if they go 2-2 in their last 4 games they won't qualify because of the .500 rule. Aliso Niguel if they lose to Tesoro again they should be out too.
: : : : : : They should look to put Walnut, Rowland, Los Altos.
: : : : : As long as they place in the top half of their league they will be in the playoffs. Norco is in third place right now and even if they're under .500 they would still go.
: : : : JSerra more than likely will finish regular season 19-7. Aliso Niguel too low.
: : : Yeah, why would JSerra be out? Obviously you haven't looked at their record. They are going to finish 3rd in league with a 19-7 record... One of their better years. &&&& They are graduated all of their non-factors so it can only go up from here. Do your research before you go trashing teams.
: : Yucaipa should be ranked higher than Cajon because Yucaipa beat Cajon. Yucaipa also has a stronger strength of schedule, then Cajon. Cajon has zero quality wins.
: Redondo Union has a 17.6 Strength of schedule and is 25 in the state, they won't be in 2AA once all the 1A teams get pulled to the open. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Redondo make a strong run in 1A.
: We watched Camarillo last year in the Finals for CIF and State, they are a well rounded team. Everyone can score from them and their best player is a sophomore. They are 40 in the state but their strength of schedule drops to a 11.8 because of the League they are in. They've won by an average of 30 points.
: Lynwood is going to be the black horse in the Division because of their staggering 18.9 strength of schedule. While they didn't get any quality wins, 5 out of their 6 losses have come from quality schools - top 50 schools in the state - Serra (#6) Eastside College Prep (#21) Granada Hills Charter (#20) Chaminade (#34) and Redondo (#25).. One loss came earlier in the season to LPB. (#72)
: Mark Keppel to me is the only suprising one of the group because of their low 8.4 Strength of schedule. They head into this weeks poll at #69 in the state on top of the Almont League at 6-0. (Not very difficult considering their cross league opponent in San Gabriel) They are also a very young team with only 3 seniors so it'll be interested to see how the lack of experience carries them throughout the playoffs.
: La Cananda comes in at #67 in the state with a strength of schedule of 11.6. They are led by 2 upper classman, but like Camarillo, it seems like everyone contributes. They are in a weaker league but have quality wins over Sonora, Granada Hills Charter, and two tough losses to Camarillo and Downey.
: JSerra comes in at #73 in the state with a strength of schedule of 13.1 that comes with (2) big Trinity league wins over Orange Lutheran to claim 3rd place and a quality win over Culver City in a single game. They also did not shy away from competition while scheduling Ribet and Troy (both teams which they lost to) If they move some of the teams mentioned above to 1A, it won't be surprising to see JSerra make a big run in the 2AA playoffs. From the looks of their roster, they have quite a few under classmen. It'll be interesting to see how the youngsters handle themselves during the playoffs.
: Bottom line is that Strength of preseason and league schedule is what is going to determine how these teams do during the playoffs. Schools like Redondo and Lynwood would do well in 1A because they've already seen most of those teams. (Hence their Strength of schedule numbers) Regardless, I wish everyone the best of luck during their post season appearances!
Teams don't get pulled up to D1 or any other division.
You either go to Open or stay in your division.
