: : : : : Yo mental midget go play on the freeway......Who cares what Div the game was. Its HS hoops not a pipe dream of yours - your daughter ain't going next level cuz she probably only knows HOOPS. probably a C student with moronic parents living in the ghetto. Keep your comments to yourself if you ain't got nothing positive to say.
: : : : : : : : : : : : Culver City edged Beverly Hills in a league showdown that went down to the wire. Here's a game recap:

: : : : : : : : : : : 48-46
: : : : : : : : : : Wow, so exciting
: : : : : : : : : What division are these schools in? Oh that's right not Division 1 so this is a insignificant game that doesn't even come close to how to how great the games that Division 1 teams play against each other. The games against Division 1 teams thus far have been insane. This was just two average teams playing each other. Both would get destroyed in Division 1. Just wait until the playoffs Division 1 will be insane and so awesome too bad most of the top teams in Division 1 will not win a championship meanwhile teams like Beverly Hills and Culver City could win a championiship against inferior competition.
: : : : : : : : You are to Harsh the girls are in that level because they are that level. Div 1 not all are good and lesser division are not all bad. Don't knock on the girls please
: : : : : : : I know harsh, the truth hurts, doesn't it.
: : : : : : Truth should not hurt unless it is your kids. Even though you know their level you don't want other to bash them. No I don't have a kid in those programs but I know some of those girls. They do their best to their Ability
: : : It is stupid to bash basketball programs because they aren't as talented as the top 15 schools in the section. The fact is that most of those schools that are elite happen to CHEAT to be elite. They go out and recruit, give out scholarships and that is the ONLY reason why the best players go there. Bashing schools that follow the rules and coach the kids that they get is not only illogical, but it also shows a distinct lack of intelligence and inability to understand concepts or the "bigger picture."
: : Not necessarily, well informed Elite players and parents are well aware of Elite HS programs. So to maximize their development and compete at the top level they choose these elite programs which for the most part are private schools with no enrollment demographic boundaries.
: : They don't have to recruit, top talents line up to go to those schools. It's just the nature of the program. Don't hate.
: But yes, bashing kids for having limited skills is uncool. If that was the intent.
When Mater Dei hired Kevin Kiernan he was already a proven coach at Troy HS and had a very successful summer girls camp which enabled him to scout kids from all over. I suspect that a kid who was good enough to play there wouldn't have had a problem finding a teammate in the attendance area to live with.
Prior to his hire MD was competitive-but not dynastic as it is now.
Brea was a powerhouse for 30 years under three coaches-and when Jeff Sink departed the first time the program dropped off in a big way. When he came back it went back up-and with his 2nd departure it remains to be seen if they can maintain the standards (or not). I suspect that if he turned up at a Trinity League school it would become a open division/national player in a hurry.
Moral of the story-top players and their coaches find and make the effort to play for the best coach they can play for. Having said that-if the kid's good enough, ways will be found so the kid can play for top coaches that maximize her potential, in HS and beyond.
