: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : El Camino stuns Harvard Westlake

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : PopScout woke El Camino

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Wow! Was HW at full squad?

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Full strength.... coach didnít decide to play one of the twins until second half because of a hurt shoulder. El Camino almost gave the game away in the 4th quarter with unforced turnovers and sloppy play. But made a couple crucial baskets late to secure the win!

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Not a serious contender now nationally or even in the state rankings...Can't lose to a 11-7 team...
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : and have anything to say nationally

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : While I think Maxpreps rankings are pretty crazy sometimes, at least it is a formula and doesn't have a bias.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Going into game, Harvard Westlake was 2 in CA and 4 in Nation. ECR was 125/1226.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Interesting to see how much the win/loss affects those rankings.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : They are ranked at 8th in the nation. Every team has a bad day.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Not the best one! Let's face it HW isn't that good.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : that just show you how H.W is when a twin is in foul trouble ,and what happened to the freshman? good luck to them next year.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : Did the big freshman play?

: : : : : : : : : : : : Great coaching from Elco

: : : : : : : : : : : :: Seems like PopScout got it right and all you board pundits got it wrong?! What's this? A City team actually being better than a SS team? Lol!

: : : : : : : : : : ElCo should be considered for Open Division instead of Ribet.

: : : : : : : : : yep, shocking, city teams can be just as good, if not better as most SS teams. And the real kicker is they can be better without recruiting! Here you have teams like Elco and GH, that are just as good as SS teams and they are doing it without teams stacked with D1 players that were recruited. Good job!

: : : : : : : : Letís wait until the state playoffs to see how the city section compares to the southern section, two years ago the southern section went 39-1 in the first round of the state regional playoff games and the only loss was to another southern section team. It was one game in the middle of the season and ElCo has already loss to 6 southern section teams this season.

: : : : : : : :: The truth is that city teams are already better because they have to work with what they get.

: : : : : : : Stop with the pipe dream, City teams will never be in the same level as top major SS teams. ElCo won because HW#1 scorer was hurt and only played a few minutes in the 2nd half. You folks must be drinking same cool aid as them Ribet parents. Wait til CIF season and we'll see if any City teams get passed the 1st round, lol

: : : : : ^well thats because ss teams have a squad full of potential D1 players because they recruit. City teams have to work hard with what they have and by that, they win!

: : : : El Camino recruits just as much as any other team. The difference is, they let any athlete in and they don't have to pay tuition. Seems like an advantage to me. Oh, and they have 3,800 students to choose from.

: : : Laughable! Elco recruits! Funniest thing ever! What exactly are they offering to get these D1 players? Certainly not free tuition to a private school that offers endless opportunities, small classroom sizes and state of the art everything. Ridiculous! City schools will never be able to compete with privates schools, which means private schools will always have stacked teams vs city which just has to develop what they have. City would be thrilled to get just 1 of these players that private schools get.

: : so why did they lose to those lowly southern section public schools this year?
: : Lynwood, Roosevelt & Santa Barbara

: : Are you going to complain they were out recruited there also? The reality is Granada Hills and ElCo are charter schools that kids love to go to. They do not charge tuition but thousands of kids try to get in to them every year. They have nothing to cry about.

: Would be curious to see what percentage of city section championships across all sports are won by charters...bet that most are...

There so many divisions in City (like in SS) that's a lot of homework! LOL
