: : : : : : After watching most of the teams in the Hacienda, Palomares, and Valle Vista Leagues, here is the way I see them stacking up.
: : : : : : Hacienda
: : : : : : 1. Walnut - After Watkins sits her 30 no one should touch them.
: : : : : : 2. Los Altos - Would have been the favorite before the Brea exodus.
: : : : : : 3. Chino - Much improved but not ready for the 2 above.
: : : : : : 4. West Covina - Solid may be able to compete for 3rd.
: : : : : : 5. Diamond Ranch - Wow what has happened to this program?
: : : : : : 6. Charter Oak - Still at the bottom
: : : : : : Valle Vista
: : : : : : 1. Rowland - Sees Covina slowly gaining ground.
: : : : : : 2. Covina - Best shooter in the area (bar none)
: : : : : : 3. San Dimas - Lots of returning players, not enough fire power.
: : : : : : 4. Northview - Has a shot at Dimas.
: : : : : : 5. Wilson - Still rebuilding.
: : : : : : 6. Baldwin Park - Not this year.
: : : : : : Palomares
: : : : : : 1. Glendora - Can adapt to any style.
: : : : : : 2. Ayala - Best player in the league, not much depth.
: : : : : : 3. Claremont - 0-30 in league should change this year.
: : : : : : 4. Bonita - Solid team could upset anyone.
: : : : : : 5. Diamond Bar - Tough to replace 75% of your offense.
: : : : : : 6. South Hills - Having only one scorer isn't enough in this league.
: : : : : : These are just preseason predictions. I will do another ranking once all the tournaments are over and team are starting to round into shape. Good Luck to everyone!!
: : : : : Prediction looks to be pretty accurate.
: : : : : Your comment about the shooter at Covina is not very accurate. She may score a lot, but is not the best shooter in the area. She is only hitting 25% of her shots. It just means that she has a scorers mentality. The 4 guards at Rowland are much better shooter, but don't have to take 25-30 shots to score 20+ points.
: : : : : Watkins at Walnut makes them an instant contender when CIF playoffs starts. I think Walnut, Los Altos, Rowland, and Glendora will make a deep run into the CIF playoffs.
: : : : LOL! All of the teams in the SGV are lucky that they are not in Division 1 because none of the teams from the SGV would make it out of the first round in the Division 1 playoffs. Depending on the match-ups Walnut, Rowland and Los Altos will be lucky if they make it past the quarterfinals in Division 2AA. Glendora is extremely lucky to be in Division 2A. Glendora better hope that Ribet Academy gets selected for the Open Division because the road to the championship in Division 2A will go through Ribet. If that roadblock is removed then it is open game for whichever team wants to win the championship.
: : : Why do you troll every post about being D1?
: : The shooter at Covina broke the CA State 3pt shot record so I don't know what the heck are you talking about. You have obviously never seen her play. Trust me when I tell you she's the best one.
: Oh I've seen her play plenty of times and she's been shutdown plenty of times. Just stay on her left side. She can't create her own shots. Needs to be set to shoot.
: Just because you make a lot of shots doesn't mean you're a great shooter. She only shot 33% from 3pt range. I bet she broke the record for most 3 ptrs taken too. She took 440 shots to break the record.
You are correct, she does take quite a few shots. The book on Covina is that you force them away from her and then force right.
