: : : : : : like probably 40-50% of all student athletes
: : : : : : entering their frosh HS year!
: : : : : : Really??? Site your source.
: : : : Yes she’s a hold back. At least once.
: : : Demetre is a hold back? Wow, she struggled at the Lynwood games and I thought she was just having Freshmanitus. I'm not impressed at all now we know she is a HB. All those offers won't do jack for you in a high school game. Seen her play travel ball, could it be she played with all those D1 players and made her look good? This might be one of those classic cases of parents living through their child and ruining their future. She will probably transfer if she doesn't have a good year and blame it on coaches/players.
: : Hold back or not, and I don't know if she is, high school ball is different than travel ball. Not necessarily better, but different.
: : Teams scheme to stop other teams/players, which rarely if ever happens in run and gun travel ball. Also, more calls in high school games, so adjustments need to be made there too.
: : So whether she is 14 or 15, she is still playing high level high school ball at a top school. So how about we give the kid a few actual games before you all tear her down.
: : And for the record I don't know her or have any connection to MD. I saw her play at a couple viewing tourneys and she looked good. But that team was loaded, and she was like option 5.
: She'll be a fine player for whichever program she lands at. I've seen her play numerous times. She isn't a me first, dominate the ball kind of player but has a large skill set, is a team player, and is getting bigger and better each time I see her. Perhaps even better suited to a good college program than some of these other "elite" players who play full court press and gimmick defenses with their "elite" club teams, but have zero concept of actual man defense, how to defend pick and rolls, helpside defense, etc. And who want to dominate the ball to try to look good.
Standing in the corner like a statue on offense does not look like a high IQ type player. Slow footed, can't keep up with guards as she was fouling all the time and can not handle the ball with defense on her. 6'3 but does not step inside 3 pt line like there is a plague in the key. I am not going at this player but at her parents and adults around her for trying to make her what she is not. Adults want to talk offers but she is a hold back that lacks skills as it was shown recently. The hold back process did not help her at all maybe try another year.
