: : : : : : Did Sierra Canyon get a couple of transfers in the guard position? Saw their video on maxprep and didnít recognize their point guard.
: : : : : : Good luck this year.

: : : : : Of course. Many. the PG you speak of came from Marlborough

: : : : :Sierra picked up a point guard from Marlborough and a 6'1" wing from Village Christian. Both are sophomores.

: : : If she's such a GREAT coach why can't she develop homegrown talent? Any monkey can coach a loaded all-star team.........and these parents PIMP their kids to the highest bidder. Sad Sad Sad.
: : : Hope their season comes to a quick end like their football team.

:
: : Just an honest question on "recruiting" in general: Is it recruiting if the kids come to you?

: : If you are any school and a good athlete comes and says they want to go there, how is that recruiting.

: : To me, recruiting is actively hunting girls at youth tourneys or talking up kids on other high school teams.

: : In the case of Sierra Canyon, I have never seen Komaki do either.

: : However, I do know Sierra is much more generous with financial aid than some other schools in the Valley area.

: They do actively recruit. Not sure about gils basketball coach, but boys coach for sure, on both sides. As far as aid, it seems that most the aid goes to the athletically talented, not so much those that "need" it. Look at schools like crossroads or Buckley, these are schools that are academically superior and base their aid on need. Notice that their athletic teams are not stacked? Hmm, seems like they have other priorities.

Not saying what you wrote isn't true, but first it didn't answer my question on what exactly is considered recruiting.

Second, what the boys teams do vs. the particular girls team mentioned is not relevant. I agree about the boys team. But again, I have never seen Komaki at a youth tourney nor actively going after other high school teams.
