: : There are lots of Burger girls who go the JC route, the most successful that I can think of was Danielle Adams, who is actually a very similar player to Clark.

: Sheryl Swoopes wasn't too awful. As far as flipping burgers, Karleen Shields did that before going the JC route and then onto USC, the WNBA, and now assistant coaching in the SEC.

: If they are willing to work, the JC route is a good one for those who can't to to DI.

: The problem with Poly is that the culture doesn't encourage the JC route. It's a scholarship or nothing at all. Too bad. There are a lot of Poly kids sitting on the bench that could keep playing at a JC then move on to D@, D3, or NAIA schools with some money to give.

: That would be sad if Clark isn't trying to play somewhere.

While it would be sad, the smarter move would be for her to sit out this year and truly focus on academics. Then next year, try to get into USC or play at a JC. She needs to learn how to focus on academics.

The problem mentioned about Poly isn't just a problem they have. It's a general problem in SoCal that's pushed by a lot of clubs and trainers. Parents and the kids feel if they don't go D1, they failed. In reality, there's nothing wrong with playing at a D2 or NAIA and walking away with a fraction of the loans a regular student would have, if any at all. But I doubt the thought process will change anytime soon.
