: : : : : : : These are my top 8 predictions for the Open teams. After going to the various fall leagues and tournaments, I have seen all but one of the teams listed below. You can bank on it

: : : : : : : 1. Mater Dei......Way too much talent. They are a college team.
: : : : : : : 2. Sierra Canyon.....This might be their best team yet. Depth, size, guard play. Scary good
: : : : : : : 3. LB Poly.....This might be their weakest team yet. Still very good but definitely not the favorites
: : : : : : : 4. Etiwanda....Even with a huge downgrade to coach who jumps around they are super talented. Not even sure he could mess up this team
: : : : : : : 5. Ribet Academy....Yes. I saw them with my own eyes last weekend. Frontline and PG are ridiculous. coach in over his head and what looks like an international harem.
: : : : : : : 6. Windward....Only team I haven't seen. Coach never does anything with the team in summer or fall. Must be nice to have club ties
: : : : : : : 7. Alemany....Very strong team. Nice size and speed. Will the new coach keep them rolling
: : : : : : : 8. Harvard Westlake........Might have a better team than last year. Twins and a 6'2 post. Problem is the rest are better than last year

: : : : : : : Top 3 out
: : : : : : : 1. Serra....returns their whole team. Lucky they are only taking 8
: : : : : : : 2. Fairmont Prep.....Very good team.
: : : : : : : 3. Orangewood Academy......Another solid season expected

: : : : : :
: : : : : : mater dei way too much talent???? please expand on it. i did not see that.

: : : : :
: : : : : Four D1 Senior commits, 2 frosh that will be BCS college players for sure, 2 more stud frosh, super soph transfer....

: : : : : If you are basing your question on last weekend - Torbert and Freeman weren't there, Crocker didn't play, and neither did the tall frosh (with multiple BCS/Pac 12 offers).

: : : : : They are flat out loaded.

: : : : : Their issue will be chemistry as you can argue the frosh/sophs are better than some of the seniors and how that situation plays out is the key to their season.

: : : : ::I agree, chemistry is the key to Mater Dei. Will Crocker start at point over the senior? We'll see once she recovers from that ankle injury.
: : : : Sierra looks solid, young team with only 2 seniors. Their guards are their primary strength. Plenty of speed and playmakers.
: : : : Etiwanda should do way better than last year. Hustle and strength with strong defense. I see this team as one of CIF Open finalist.
: : : : I'll also add Bishop Montgomery in the mix, they will surprise a lot of folks this season.
: : : :
: : : Khylee Pepe and Brooke Demetre are Mater Dei's best players. But will the upper class give in to freshmans? That's going to be interesting to see how they do. Crocker will put them over the top once she is healthy.

: : I don't think Crocker "puts them over the top" at all. She's an OK player at best who stat stuffed on a lousy high school team. Not going to run a team the way this young squad needs from a PG standpoint.

: Sierra strong, but not best team! Last year they graduated 2 elite players and 1 really good player. No way the 2 transfers makeup for that talent and the freshmen are too green to even compete.

No matter how talented they are...as they learned when Samuelson and Higgins were there, there is only one basketball...
