: : : : : : : : : Alemany won a city team by only 2 points at the Burroughs league on Saturday? With a full squad! Perhaps not the power house everybody claims?
: : : : : : : : If thats Granada Hills stop. Granada is a power. They had Sierra beat.
: : : : : : : : It sounds like to me that Granada is trying to toot their own horn. Iím sure a Granada player or coach is putting out this string of messages. Relax Granada! Youíre not that good
: : : : : : Granada is good for a city team. I will agree with that. They may win the city league this year. The City section is no match for the southern section. They had Sierra beat? WHAT? Sierra's coach doesn't coach in the fall league. Sierra's best player didn't play. The Sierra coach subbed all girls evenly. The last three minutes of the game when she decided to win, they beat Granada by ten points! They almost beat who?
: : : : :
: : : : : :I was at the game and Granada could have easily won both games but it was obvious that GH coach played both games as what it is. A Fall league where you play all your girls to gauge what works and adjustments you need to work on.
: : : : : It appears to me that both Alemany and Sierra coaches were out there to win, like it's a CIF championship, lol. Alemany only won by 2 with help from refs with terrible calls in the last 2minutes.
: : : : : Sierra didn't have Payne but they had everyone else including couple of solid transfers. That PG transfer is a stud, I will give them that. But the game was tight the whole way, GH even took the lead with 3 mins to go. It was clear that GH was spent having a back to back games. If they were fresh I'd say they beat Sierra even if there best player Payne is in the lineup. That's how I see it. Don't hate.
: : : : You're delusional, GH was totally outclassed. You probably went to the wrong gym. They were in the small gym, is that where you went???
: : :
: : : granada almost beat harvard westlake also so I think granada has inproved and they should win it this year.
: : When a person says I'm sure they're not that good, it means they haven't seen them play and has no clue if they're good or not. Just a stupid statement, like the numbskull that said that GH was totally outclassed. He was obviously not at the game. either.
: Here's the deal with Fall Leagues.
: On one hand they don't count or matter, especially for top teams like an Alemany, Windward, Sierra Canyon, etc. It's just some run and a chance to work on stuff against people who don't practice the plays with you all the time.
: For teams on the next tier, like a Granada Hills or say Canyon, the results are not necessarily as important as how they play or how they win or lose. Do they play well/competitively against the first unit? Or can they only do things against the subs? It may be the only important part of the game is the first five minutes.
: You can't make any determinations from the scores of these games. You have to actually see the game in person - do both teams have their full squads? How much did first unit play?
: For instance, was Archer playing? She didn't play in the viewing tourney last weekend when Alemany played teams like Etiwanda and La Jolla Country Day. For Sierra, did the tall girl play? She plays volleyball too so she may have had a tournament. On the other hand, Granada basically plays together year around. So if their squad was all their and healthy, they are probably playing in mid-season form.
: So Fall Leagues can be fun, just don't read too much into them, especially if you aren't actually there.
It's FALL LEAGUE! Everyone plays in fall league so you don't play them during season. Fall League Success could be Fools Gold.
