: : : : : : How does a team that doesn't win a playoff game in their division get moved up?

: : : : Where can we find the divisions for girls basketball ?

: CIF cant answer that either. if you can't win a first round game in one division maybe you should go down a division or stay in that division, not be moved up. Oh well CIF does have a tough job and in trying to please everyone isn't able do the obvious.

If your team is in a good league, in other words D1 and D2 teams, your point total increases. So a team stuck in a good league that goes .500 very likely will move up.

Teams in a bad league (D4 and D5) get very few power points so they move down.

I am not sure how some teams that went to the quarters in a division still dropped, but it happened.

The formula is on the website -- go to girls basketball, click on the button that says playoff divisions and the formula is posted at the top. You would literally need to go game by game for your team and see their ranking, but CIF did it already so you don't need to... last years record counts for 67% and 2 years ago counts for 33% of your final power ranking... CIF then starts at #1 and basically counts automatic playoff qualifiers form last year -- once they've hit a number (around 27-29), they just cut it off and start a new division....

So, your team may have lost in the first round but your schedule dictated that you acquired higher power points than others and consequently moved up...
