: : : : : Any predictions on where teams will end up? 1as? 1aas?

: : : : Aren't they doing away with 1AA and 1A and having an open division of 8 teams and then a division 1, after that they will go with 2AA, 2A, 3AA, etc?

: : : : That is the info I was hearing.

: : : Should just keep it the way it is!

: : From a previous post --- D1 guess and logic. I understand it is a 2 year point process, but if you were in 1AA or 1A last year, you already have a solid 2 year point ranking system.

: : They will pick the OPEN out of D1 (8 teams) --- I have placed the 44 logical selections below.. always up for debate, and not sure where they draw the number line --- this would give 8 open teams and 36 D1 teams (4 wildcard games if everyone made the playoffs)......

: : D1 --
: : : : : 1 Harvard Westlake (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 2 Long Beach Poly (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 3 Mater Dei (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 4 Ventura (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 5 Orangewood Acad. (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 6 Troy (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 7 Chaminade (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 8 Alemany (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 9 Lakeside (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 10 Serra (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 11 LB Millikan (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 12 Etiwanda (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 13 Brea Olinda (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 14 Fairmont Prep (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 15 Windward (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 16 Sierra Canyon (Open - automatic 1)
: : : : : 17 Canyon Country (1AA finalist - auto 1)
: : : : : 18 Valencia (1AA champion - auto 1)
: : : : : 19 St. Anthony (1AA semis - auto 1)
: : : : : 20 Oaks Christian (1AA semis - auto 1)
: : : : : 21 Redondo Union (1AA quarters - auto 1)
: : : : : 22 Roosevelt (1AA quarters - auto 1)
: : : : : 23 Los Alamitos (1AA quarters. - auto 1)
: : : : : 24 Sonora (1AA quarters - auto 1)
: : : : : 25 West Torrance (1AA - 2nd - auto 1)
: : : : : 26 Great Oak (1AA 2nd - auto 1)
: : : : : 27 Mark Keppel (1AA 2nd - auto 1)
: : : : : 28 Vista Murrieta (1AA 2nd - auto 1)
: : : : : 29 Centennial Corona (1AA 2nd - auto 1)
: : : : : 30 Norco (1AA 2nd - auto 1)
: : : : : 31 Lynwood (1AA 2nd - auto 1)
: : : : : 32 Orange Lutheran (1AA 2nd - auto 1)
: : : : : 33 Bishop Montgomery (1A champ - auto 1)
: : : : : 34 Huntington Beach (1A finalist- auto 1)
: : : : : 35 King, Martin Luther (1A semis- auto 1)
: : : : : 36 Esperanza (1A semis - auto 1)
: : : : : 37 JW North (1A quarters - auto 1)
: : : : : 38 Mira Costa (1A quarters - auto 1)
: : : : : 39 El Rancho (1A quarters - auto 1)
: : : : : 40 JW North (1A quarters - auto 1)
: : : : : 41 Rosary (2AA Champ - auto 1)
: : : : : 42 Camarillo (2AA Finalist - auto 1)
: : : : : 43 JSerra (2AA semis - auto 1)
: : : : : 44 Rowland (2AA semis - auto 1)

: What did these teams do the year before? You have to look at two years plus who these teams played. Just because Rosary won a championship doesn't mean they will be in Division 1 because Rosary beat nobody last year or the year before that. The same goes for most of the teams you have listed. Half of these teams played nobody and beat nobody but because they had some success in a horrible, meaningless division you think they will be in Division 1? Please!

: Besides, three quarters of these teams do not want to be in Division 1 and their coaches and parents will piss and moan and say how unfair it is to be in Division 1. This whole equality thing is a joke. All CIF is doing allowing teams that are horrible a chance to win a CIF Championship.

: Just look at Rosary for example, a third place team in their league and because of how horrible their division was, they win a championship. The same goes for all of the teams in every division. Last year's championship games were the worst I have ever seen and that includes the Division 1AA finals too. Those two teams had no business playing in the finals let alone at the Honda Center, what a waste.

: But that is what CIF wants, horrible teams competing for a meaningless championship. It is just sad that CIF rewards mediocracy now.

POS - if you pay attention then you would have read what I wrote in front of the list ---

if teams were in 1AA or 1A last year then they already had 2 good years in the eyes of CIF (1AA and 1A was 77 teams last year). Consequently, a deep playoff run isn't going to drop them to 2AA.

Since last year was the first year of equity, they are altering the formula a bit this year and I am not exactly aware of the intricacies, but suffice to say I have heard league strength will have more effect.

No one said "who wants to be or doesn't want to be in D1?"... it is a formula CIF is using...

I realize you like to badger and put down all divisions and teams except the Top 5 in America so arguing with you is futile as thick skulls don't crack easily.

Girls getting to play in the Honda Center, APU or the Pyramid is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most, so I would refute it is meaningless. Every state has multiple divisions, but SoCal shouldn't... nice analysis.
