: : Ranked #52 on Hoopgurlz, I believe she has a USC offer. The Trojans just landed Desiree Caldwell, excellent point guard from Texas and her commit might rule out Taylor Chavez. SC is going hard after Aquira Decosta, Jillian Archer, Karisma Ortiz and still talk about Andrea Aquino.
: : Smith is noted as a 4 or 5. At 6'5", I had heard she was very athletic but still learning the game. Will she succeed in the Pac?
: Please don't take this as bashing this young lady in any way. Her Mom played in WNBA and the young lady works hard.
: That being said, I don't see her as an impact Pac 12 player. She is athletic but not overly fast (if that makes sense). Her shot needs a lot of work. At this point she would have to be a straight post up player, and really no one in the Pac 12 runs that type of offense (guess we will see what Trakh does though).
: I have seen her play multiple times in different situations. The weird thing is, despite playing the same way with the same intensity - she does well against some of the best players but I have seen her get outplayed multiple times by smaller players she should dominate. She gets pushed off the block and at this point can be easily denied the ball.
: Can she play in the Pac 12? Probably. As a role player backup. She is 6-5. Is she D1? Absolutely. Definitely could be an impact player at the mid-major level - WCC, Big West, etc.
: But the Pac 12 is just another level right now.
Very nice analysis and highly constructive criticism for the young lady and her coaches. As I've heard it, she's a fine young lady with a good work ethic so maybe she can start pulling a surprise. Trakh does well with these types of players so USC might be a great place for her.
