: : I am a fan of the new system CIF has implemented to provide equity in Divisions but it seems there are still some bugs in it. I guess my question is, how are there three 2008/2009 CIF champs in 4A this year? And how does Bell Jeff who obviously recruits with the best of them get to be in 4A? I am a fan of a 4A sized school who has no way or desire to recruit anyone. My second question is, how do we compete with the recruiters of the world? If there would ever be a senerio where we could compete with same sized schools that don't recruit we would do very well each year. For the last 25 years or so we have been knocked out of the playoffs by teams that recruit. Maybe there just aren't that many that don't recruit these days. Bell Jeff was in the Big Division of the San Diego Classic this past summer, put them in 1AA. I also think it was laughable that Cajon was in the "small schools" and "rebuilding" schools divsion in San Diego. I'm glad Oaks Christian beat them in the 2A final, but as we know, Oaks recruits with the best of them as well. ... but on the postive side there is nothing more enjoyable than beating a team that, shall we say, bends the rules.
: Give it a rest. Parents make the decisions on where to send their kids not coaches. It is their choice. All of the better programs will attract quality basketball players. There is really no need to recruit....MD, Brea, Poly, BJ, Oaks, Winward, Havard Westlake etc...-- all have solid programs. Any parent who believes their daughter could make it to the next level will place their daughter in a top program. If I think my daughter has talent, I will not send her to a school that is not competitive or will not make the playoffs or does not have a program. None of these schools have to recruit. Sorry -- they just don't need too. If you want competive players to consider your school -- you have to build a program and win. That may not be fair, but its a fact of life. I am sure you do not give your business to companies that are not excellent at what they do. I bet you only patronize businesses within a two mile radius of your home. Get real. For many parents, the decisions they make about where to send their daughter for school / basketball is an investment - hopefully to get their daughter to the next level on a scholarship. They will chose the right program for their child.
Your statements are totally false. IT IS A KNOWN FACT that PRIVATE schools like Harvard-WESTLAKE, OAKS Christian, BELL-JEFF RECRUIT. DO you really think the guard @ HW who came from GRANADA HILLS could really afford the tuition. PLEASE! You think all the transfers from Mark Keppel were not PERSUADED to go to BELL- JEFF........Just like the guy from Canyon these coaches WILL GET CAUGHT one day and will be exposed for what they are : CHEATERS!
