: Why rag on travel ball culture?? We hate seeing that as well. We have to drop out when you bum ass high school coaches tell kids they have to play with you guys in some horrible tournament with kids that have no aspiration to play in college. You know what I would like to see--would love to see high school coaches kick all of the club kids off their teams and see what the team would look like---hahah it would look like the majority of high school girls bball--where so many of those are just PE kids that happen to be playing basketball but do not have the skill level or commitment to play club ball.

This is a very narrow minded response. New or club coaches not being aware of the protocols is the responsibility of their admin to make them aware. This training doesn’t always happen. There is a time and a place for both club and high school. Given the small % of players actually playing college at any level I would argue that the program that teaches responsibility, commitment, competitiveness, teamwork, and the importance of being part of something bigger than themselves is where the value is for the young person. Hopefully the player can find that at their school and within their club program while developing a desire to hone their skills and compete consistently. There is good and bad in club and in high school. As a person of character, if you make a commitment, it should be honored, contract or no contract. Too many adults make it ok to bail out when it gets uncomfortable and justification comes from pointing the finger, not looking in the mirror.
