: Thereís a coach in the city that is forcing his players to practice on the blacktop everyday. Iíve talked to numerous coaches and they all agree that players should not be going 100% when practicing outdoors. What is your opinion?
: Why canít they use the gym?
: He is too lazy to get a permit and doesnít care enough to stay in order to give his players gym time. Kids are complaining about knee issues and are scared to speak up.
: In addition, players are being told to get donations for the program... failure to get a donation results in zero to no playing time. Isnít this illegal?
: Itís a shame. No wonder his team is struggling. Heís losing respect of the players.
What you don't know about the city is you must have insurance to practice your teams inside as the district requires that as they consider teams out of season not affiliated with LAUSD. So you must provide your own insurance to use the facility. If you ask to get permit for gym after 6pm some coaches have to pay for rental. It's so many hoops you have to go through with the LAUSD. The stipend you get is very little. So give the coach a break. He's trying to prepare his team for the upcoming season and at this point every day counts, inside or outside on the black top.
