: Thereís a coach in the city that is forcing his players to practice on the blacktop everyday. Iíve talked to numerous coaches and they all agree that players should not be going 100% when practicing outdoors. What is your opinion?
: Why canít they use the gym?
: He is too lazy to get a permit and doesnít care enough to stay in order to give his players gym time. Kids are complaining about knee issues and are scared to speak up.
: In addition, players are being told to get donations for the program... failure to get a donation results in zero to no playing time. Isnít this illegal?
: Itís a shame. No wonder his team is struggling. Heís losing respect of the players.
In the fall a lot of smaller schools practice outside. That can be due to volleyball having gym priority, but with volleyball ending soon the gym will open up. It might also be an hours thing where most teams practice after school because all the kids are present so going outside results in the most kids showing up and not having to go home and come back later.
As for the donations, I'm sure every coach tries to "push" that everyone must fundraise or get donations so the team can get equipment or go to events, failure to do so will just result in continuing to have to stay at home and practice on that blacktop instead of playing in some fall leagues or tournaments.
