: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : JSerra has picked up a 7’0” Italian player who most recently played for a prep school in North Carolina but needed to move on so a Catholic high school in San Juan Capistrano was the obvious next stop - who knows how he got there, but his new coach calls him a “force” and that he will “definitely start” for the team this season.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Just like many other transfers, this sends a strong message as to the program’s loyalty to their returning players and to incoming freshmen who someday want to play varsity. Rumor has it that one 6’3” freshman who played with JSerra throughput the summer has already withdrawn his acceptance and has gone back to his home school. Such is the world of the private school.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Why wouldnt a 6'3 guard want to play with a 7 footer? They should be happy to have a big to compliment them.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : YOU miss the point. Not every high school player wants to compliment a 7 foot transfer incoming center. Some kids grow up in a community and strive to make their highs school team. They dont want to play for years only to find out that the HS is accepting players in order to have a winning program. What ever happened to local kids playing for their HS>?

: : : : : : : : : : : : Except that most private schools are not local kids at all. Not to mention the fact that you said the kid went back to his home school, which means you are arguing that a kid who left his local school to play for a private school is mad that other kid are doing exactly what he did.

: : : : : : : : : : : Not so quick on the "most private schools are not local". In reality it is the high profile private school that recruit and get athletes from outside their general area. Examples being Mater Dei, St. John Bosco, J Serra, Sierra Canyon, Bishop Mont. , and St Anthonys. The fact is that most private schools do not get many athletes from outside their local areas. Also keep in mind that 40% of he schools in the southern section are private schools with about 5-10% of those schools doing the vast majority of recruiting athletes from anywhere on earth. My point being than a large number of private school enroll mostly local kids. And I grant you that, that area is larger than most public schools enrollment areas are. Also remember that theire are public schools that live off of transfers and out of the area athletes. LB Poly, Centennial, back in the day Dominguez(see Chandler, and Thomas), Los Alamitos football, Millikan under the previous coach.
: : : : : : : : : : : Thus not all the eggs belong in the same basket.

: : : : : : : : : : Dog chasing his tail is the end result. Only weak in the head minded players need to play on stacked teams. Put your big boy pants on and prove something. KZ Okpala did! What about you so called big time player. All hype and no substance. Go KZ!!!

: : : : : : : : : That is what Private Schools do. It’s not a shocker. Always looking for better players. Get over it!!

: : : : : : : : Keep buying they hype. Schools are just using the boys chasing the wind. Can't carry a team so need to be surrounded by good athletes. NOT all good athletes are good basketball players with high IQ.

: : : : : : : Bottom line? WINNING - NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS

: : : : : : Using people to better yourself is about as ugly as it gets. What makes me laugh it is a form of slavery and yet the blinded fall right into it. Tell me what I want to hear and things are good. Weak minded people. Is not your son more important than being used? Good players get picked up anywhere.

: : : : : was right there with you until you went to the slavery card. I get hyperbole, but please...

: : : :
: : : : Listen to all ya cry babies, pathetic. If you have a solid program and a great coach you claim to be then your ballers aren't going no where even if they are being highly recruited as you noted. They are transferring out on they own will to be with a coach and program that will elevate their games and complete at top level. No one is stealing anyone. Man up and better yourself and program instead of coming on to this board crying like a little girl, smh....

: : : Or the collectors could just learn to develop the players that show up instead of going out and taking guys from other programs.

: :
: : You can't read. They are leaving on their own will to be in a better program. No one is taking or stealing players. Ballers line up to be in these top schools so they can compete at the top level. To develop to their full potential playing and training against top notch players. Welcome to The Game!

: That's not entirely true. Someone is talking them into going to Private. Mater Dei is a different animal they don;t have to recruit anymore and haven't for the last 20 years but these other schools have the AAU Coaches do the dirty work. This will be my 41st year Coaching High School (Public & Private) and it is time for a Private & Public CIF Divisions. When 9 out of 11 Private Schools won there section the Public Schools don't stand a chance anymore. Just my take.

That's what Open division is for. If the bond is thight no scouting will pull your top performers from your program.

You can't blame top ballers to seek programs that will put them on top tournaments against top teams in state and out. That's what these elite schools do. They put you in big tournaments in front of college coaches. And they get rings at the end of the season. On top of that, private schools have smaller class size and better teachers. It's a win win for these young ballers. You can't blame them for wanting that.
