: I attended the Maranatha Block Party tourney this past week. Let’s just say what’s being written about these “top prospects” is an embellishment. I was there for 4 days and did not see one dominant performance. When I look on Twitter however I see players being mentioned for scoring 10 or 15 pts. We have too many so called scouts that highlight average performances. I’ve been watching SoCal high school basketball for years and I can’t remember a time when the talent was so watered down. I feel like there are a few reasons including the private school phenomenon, but that’s entirely another conversation. I think for starters we should only highlight the truly impressive performances. Maybe then the kids will try to reach and do something great.
So you were at both sites for 4 days, 8 hours a day? And many people have been watching high school basketball for years so what makes your opinion more valid than a “scout”?? What’s in it for the scout? Do they get paid by these parents? Just asking.
