: : How does someone "commit" to a D3 school? There is no athletic scholarship so what exactly are they signing to play for that school?
: : For example, D1, D2, and NAIA all have NLI that is signed by the player that binds them to the school.
: : just a ceremonial letter that is signed when committed to a d3. At de it's about academic success 1st.
I always laugh when this forum devalues D3 teams. I watched my sonís D3 team beat several D2 teams by thirty points this past year. Scholarship money is fantastic and D3 schools can offer athletes significant financial aid and academic monies that matches D1 athletic scholarships. Some families value the academic mindset many D3 schools offer more than just a focus on sports. D3 scholar athletes see a big picture knowing that their future is in getting the best education possible while playing the sport they love. Now thatís a commitment.
