: Need to have a reality check - the top players will get scholarships if they never step foot on an AAU court but instead go to high school and and play there only. With the summer and fall seasons, this may be 100 games per year.

: The middle tier payer may need some additional exposure in tournament play but what needs to be remembered is that AAU programs are businesses and the player playing on the Magicís number 3 U18 team or or one of the 10 junior team is paying the monthly dues and tournament fees needed to support the lifestyle of the coaches and other expenses.

I agree with the last post, that top players will get offered even without good AAU exposure. Remember that social media, nowadays, is a powerful tool by itself.

For the NAIA, D3 level player that is good enough for a "financial aid" package of some sort, it's important to work WITH BOTH your HS coach and AAU coach. They have to help put your name out there.

Even if your AAU team isn't an "elite" program, your AAU coach needs to make sure your team plays at least a game or 2 on the "main-stage" against the elite teams, so that you can get some scout exposure.

As for your HS coach, he or she needs to make calls and send emails/footage from Hudl or Krossover (whatever your HS uses).

So to answer the question "is club ball more important than HS?", I'd say it's JUST as important and that they work together.
