: : : Tons come to the Nike Extravaganza
: : Just to be honest, I know what high schools the local “really good talent” go to. For except a small few, I have no clue what travel ball/AAU teams they play for.
: AAU club ball is waaaay more important. You won't find big college coaches at many high school games, but they certainly go to the big AAU events. Makes sense, because they can see dozens of elite prospects under one roof at AAU events, but that rarely happens at HS games. So parents, choose your AAU teams wisely!
It depends on what high school or AAU team you play in. Now days, most serious players play both.
Many AAU teams are loaded with as much talent as a coach can attract, however, most AAU teams don't play very disaplined. yes the big summer AAU event will attract college attention, si scouts and coaches can see as many ekite players in one location.
High School teams can vary, many of the top programs get regular visits from college coaches and scouts. Then just like the big AAU events, many college coaches attend the big high school tournaments, showcases and playoffs. Many college coaches have rapports with top high school coaches, so there is a lot of dialogue between the two. Generally, high school coaches have the opportunity to get to know player's better, they have them 6 days a week for 4 or 5 months. There are many solid AAU coaches that are well connected and can help kids but there are also many good high school coaches that and programs that are known to produce solid talent. So yes choose your programs and schools wisely.
