: : : : : I wanted that documentary on Netflix with the Compton Magic and they interview Parker Jackson-Cartwright and he said something along the lines of if Parker doesnt play his HS season than thats fine with me. It was along those lines. So, with that... is club ball more important than HS team ball?
: : : : :Most players are just wasting their parents money ! They are not on the top tier teams .
: : : Definitely depends on the athlete but I would say for the most part yes. Unless you are really moving the needle coaches aren't using their budget to go to your high school to see you play.
: : I think they complement each other. A kid can show off his natural abilities with no structure that is AAU and travel ball. Then he can show how good he can be operating in an established system (if the high school coach has one) and playing in a role. I would have given up on basketball a long time ago if high school basketball didnt exist and it was only travel ball and AAU because travel ball and AAU are trash in my opinion.
: AAU is way more important that high school ball. But high school ball is more structured & aau's coaching for the most part is real bad.
Assistants will show up to HS games. I've seen high major D1 assistants at practices, even when 4/5-star guys weren't involved.
Even the big-time college coaches will show up for the HS showcases/tournaments now and then.
