: : : : They had a good record too and probably would have competed for CIF title but they aren't in the playoffs, anyone know what happened?

: : : They finished 5th in the Mission Valley League. Guessing there were no At-Large spots in 5A.

: : Couldn't tell you anything about the Mission Valley League but I'm guessing its better than most leagues of teams that got 2nd or 3rd that are in

: The new system has some advantages. Puts very high achieving teams up to appropriate divisions but it is also keeping many good teams out when they do not finish in top half of solid leagues or finish above .500
: Top half of bad leagues often does not mean the best teams! Byes in divisions 1 and 2 are a total waste too. I vote for more quality teams in and if need be fill it up with quantity too to take brackets to 32. If they are not good enough the ball won't lie! Bad rules and policies do however.

If they're setting aside Wed for wild card games anyway, why not let some of the at-large teams (like El Monte) that deserve to be in and have them play their way in to round 1? In most divisions there were a handful of over .500 teams that had good seasons that could make the brackets a lot of fun.
