: : Lol
: : As for the poll..... there were some rough things that occurred... however Oakwood “easy” ride to the finals will have a stop at Vistamar.... and a road black by a certain dark horse team on the other side as well as Western Christian...
: : The dark horse team and Western Christian can both beat Oakwood. That dark horse team starts five guys over 6 feet and just played a tougher schedule.
: : : : : The CIF brackets and pairings have been released and i predict that in the D5A division, Oakwood HS will be crowned State Champs on February 23. (Or whatever day the championship game is played)
: : : : : I say this not to sound pompous or vain, but rather I say this because i have followed the Gorillas all season and I have checked out many/most of the teams in D5A.
: : : : : Very exciting stuff. Go Oakwood. Good luck.
: : : : You mean CIF championship, State will be played March 8-9. I guarantee there will be zero State Champions crowned 2/23. Oakwood has a good shot at CIF, but look out for Marshall. The polls in 5A were pathetic, coaches who voted in that poll should be banned from voting.
: : : : There is a chance, if schools like El Monte or Marshall make the semifinals, that other schools from 3AA-A and 4AA-A will move to D5 for state. Even if not, Santa Clara has a 6'10 big and would be heavily favored vs Oakwood.
: : : I just checked out Santa Clara and their big 6'10 guy - he is really good obviously. Ironically, his last name is OLiver, as is Oakwoods BIG 6'5 center - Aiden Oliver. Aiden Oliver has played 4 games - scoring 27 - 23 - 22 - and 42 vs Pacifica. IF those 2 big guys ever faced each other, it would be quite a match-up. BTW - thanks for CIF/Playoffs info - i am learning.
: If you think Oakwood would play within 40 points of Santa Clarita you need to watch more basketball. You lost to Pacifica Christian by 30.
Santa Clarita isn't likely to move down to D5 for State Playoffs, too much recruiting going on. Santa Clara was the team in question. Oakwood led wire-to-wire by double digits last game vs Pacifica Christian. Santa Clara also beat PC by 22.
