: : : For playoffs does any Div 1 team that wins more than 50% of their games qualify for the At Large Playoff spots?, somehow doesn't seem fair to have a Div 1 team drop to 3AA just because they went more than 50% when so many of the coaches deliberately pad their schedule with weaker teams. Commenss

: : Yes, there will be 28 AQs/at large eligible teams in D1.

: : You don't seem to understand the point system.

: : St. Francis has a 1,360 CBED enrollment figure, that puts them in D3 for state. They are not a D1 school who dropped to D3, they are in Division 3AA because they have lost 9+ games in league per year the past two years. A team only receives 12 points for losing to an above-.500 Division 1 school, and an average of 12 in nearly half their games puts them in D3. Their wins were against sub-.500 Mission league teams, fewer points are awarded for those.

: : If you are a coach who knows he will win around 25% of his league games per year, and you scheduled up anyway, you'd be a security guard or Wal-Mart greeter shortly. Now if they drop lower than 3AA you can crap on them all you want, but this division is no cakewalk for them.

: The question had nothing to do with St Francis, but with D1 Teams. There will be Div 1 teams that will be playing in 3A and 3AA for At Large Playoffs, the point system is flawed that way-of course no system is perfect. Coaches that schedule down constantly are not doing their teams any favors, just saving their jobs, on that we might agree

I have no idea what you are talking about. There are 40 schools in d1 and 8 were chosen for open divison, leaving 32 remaining. That means every eligible school will make the playoffs in that division either through auto qualify or at large. There is nothing about playing in a different division.
