: : : : : : Mission League is almost over.. thoughts?

: : : : : : Overachievers / Underachievers

: : : : : : Current Standings:

: : : : : : 1. Loyola 4-1
: : : : : : 1. HW 4-1
: : : : : : 3. Crespi 3-2
: : : : : : 4. Chaminade 2-3
: : : : : : 4. St. Francis 2-3
: : : : : : 4. ND 2-3
: : : : : : 7. Alemany 1-5

: : : : :
: : : : : Jamaal Adams is doing an amazing job at Loyola.

: : : : : Alemany being 1-5 is a bit surprising I think.

: : : : : There are possibilities of 3 and 4-way ties for fourth place going into the league tourney.

: : : : : I don't know the tie-breakers, but somewhere someone is going to get screwed by a coin flip or other silly means.

: : : : : This all would have been avoided if Zaire Williams didn't hurt his ankle! LOL

: : : : : Either way, the only team that is in danger of not making CIF playoffs is Alemany, and I'm sure all the teams will do well in CIF as they usually do.
: : : : _________________________

: : : : Move Heritage Chr into the Mission league & move St Francis to whatever's in Bakersfield.

: : : : Put Alemany 🏀 on the "move watch list." If they continue like this, move them to the Olympic league with Village & move Marlborough to the Mission.

: : : : The coaching at Crespi and Loyola is good because there's 1, or 2, college potential players at either school.

: : : : Notre Dame has 2 D1 players but loses games that they shouldn't. That's terrible coaching.

: : :
: : : White and Adams are good coaches period. They may have potential college players, but I would argue those players are there because they want to play for those coaches. Owens is D1, but arguably not at the same level as Williams, Perrantes, etc. I don't think there are any more Welsh's at Loyola.

: : : As for ND, it's a simple formula. If Williams plays, they are tough to beat. If he is hurt or out, they struggle because Rishwain just gets double-covered and the other guys can't knock down enough shots. Without Williams, they are the least talented team in the league. With him, they can beat anyone.

: : : And I still stand by all the Mission League teams will do well in the playoffs.

: : : As for Heritage, I don't think CIF has many teams in one league for one sport only. And Heritage can't compete with Mission League teams in any other sport. And their gym is a joke compared to the rest of the Mission teams. So no thank you.

: : You could figure this was coming, St. Francis knew the only way to make playoffs was through league. So why waste your energy scheduling up when the season came down to a handful of games anyway? Mostly games that #2 missed. Henry's injury during the heart of their 6-game league schedule effectively ended their season.

: : They scheduled down because Wolfson knew there wouldn't be many at large spots available...and there were none. Ironically they would make playoffs in D1 with a 14-14 record no matter who they played. So how are they left out in a lower division?

: : Playoff qualification needs an overhaul (the one thing that is never adjusted). It's a disgrace that a top-4 team as voted by coaches will be sitting at home.

: : Until then, basketball-centric schools should all look for 5-team leagues. Or weak ones.

:
: I think there may be one WC in 3AA.

Wild Card games are only played if there are more than 32 automatic qualifiers. If there are fewer than 32, St. Francis will get an at-large.
