: : : : : : : : : : : I was at this game. Wow. Did foothill whiff on their coaching selection. They donít run anything and donít play hard. Itís a bad combination. He looks lost and if my son was headed there, Iíd strongly think about going somewhere else. Heís a club guy and it shows.
: : : : : : : : : : Club coaches canít get it done. Also this guy too young .
: : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Are there any good high school coaches who are club coaches?
: : : : : : : : : Who are the best public school coaches who don't have a club team
: : : : : : : : The previous coach is not coaching anywhere this season. Maybe they can get the old coach to return? I am sure the new coach is working hard, but the results are troubling for a school that was so consistent during the prior coaches tenure.
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : They need to get a coach that has experience coaching at the high school level and not someone from the AAU circuit. Foothill has solid talent, but the wrong coach to lead them. Wouldn't be shocked if the got rid of him by the end of the season.
: : : : : : That is why I bring up the previous coach. Two CIF Titles at a public school not previously known for any kind of boys basketball success would be a huge lift for the program.
: : : : : The previous coach left due to personal health reasons. Not sure if he would be willing to come back. I agree they need someone who has the experience and can get the best out of the kids he has.
: : : : Having A.A.U/Club Coaches trying to do Club and High School never works. Joedy Gardner Fired at J-Serra, since they paid him and he wanted to make money doing Club, train, and try go coach his High School Program. They paid him well! Fountain Valley, Los Alamitos, and Westminster making money with Club and not developing their players. All 3 Programs use to be good. Hire a Coach who wants to build a Program and put all his effort and time into it!
: : : : Maybe Fountain Valley, Los Al & Westminster are not good because those coaches are not good to begin with. Has nothing to with them running a club program. They donít win competitive AAU games either. A good coach will have success at any level. You just have to hire the right one.
If Iím not mistaken the Fountain Valley coach has won. Riverside King back to back titles and OLU back to back titles as a top assistant. The guy just needs to get the right talent in there. That program was in shambles for some time. Remember FV wasnít even mentioned for years and now here we are making statements about FV. Clearly that staff is doing something right because their becoming relevant. Went through a ad change. Coaching staff has incredible experience. Also must look at the fact thatbwith any program building the culture is vital. We have seen programs with talent not win because the culture isnít developed. Once players buy in, it changes everything. FV coach has only been there for 2 years by the way. The previous coach was there for 4 years and well we know what that produced. Many people donít understand the inside of this coaching thing. In public schools they donít get paid they really love the game and they really care for their kids. No knock on private schools but itís a different set of rules. Public can get I9 and donít have lavish facilities they push with what they have with no complaints just a lot of grind. Again before the quick judgements go sit in on a practice and talk to coach or check his resume and pedigree.
: : These ADs need to do a clear background check on these coaches resumes before bringing them on board. Sad to see these programs around OC go down the drain like this
: Do you know the resumes for these coaches? You should go check them before you get on here and say something foolish! Just my thoughts.
