: : : : : Marmonte League mid-season:
: : : : Stanziano plays for TO, and so far he's #4 on this team, could be the best, just doesn't show up every night to play. Anderson or Benioff deserve 2nd team before him. Anderson is the MVP on T.O., and no, I don't have a kid on the team.
: : : : : 1. Calabasas
: : : : : 2. Oaks Christian
: : : : : 3. Thousand Oaks
: : : : : 4. Westlake
: : : : : 5. Newbury Park
: : : : : MVP candidates- Max Cheylov (Calabasas), Matt Solomon (NP), Hunter Thorne (Thousand Oaks)
: : : : : First Team:
: : : : : Cheylov (CHS)
: : : : : Solomon (NP)
: : : : : Thorne (TO)
: : : : : Ramel Lloyd (CHS)
: : : : : Evan McKay (CHS)
: : : : : Second Team:
: : : : : Hersy Miller (Oaks)
: : : : : Jordan Berens (Oaks)
: : : : : Bryce Howard (Westlake)
: : : : : Bryce Kilkenny (Westlake)
: : : : : Justin Stanziano (NP)
: : : : : Nickerson Demelfi (NP)
: : : : After The game against Westlake I think we have a chance to run the table and finish in a tie for 1st place. We look like we are finally playing as a team on both sides of the ball. That being said, what a embarrassment by the Westlake head coach. He looks like he has lost total control. I feel bad for their kids.
: : Impressed with TO so far, although I hate seeing HS teams play only zone defence. That's soft and doesn't help the kids play at the next level. TO has to beat Calabasas again, at home. That'll be tough but i guess it's possible. Still think Calabasas will win it all though.
: : Agree about Westlake. The kids hate the coach - many quit the team - and it shows.
: No, it's not soft, it's smart coaching. When you realize you don't have the horses to run with the other guys, you do what you need to do to give your team the best chance to compete with the other team. Unlike Calabasas, T.O. plays with local kids. Palarz couldn't win 2 games a year if he stuck with his local talent.
We'll have to agree to disagree, but I'd never let my son play for a HS coach who doesn't play man-to-man. It's not all about winning games, it's also about developing players. You don't learn to defend playing only zone.
Yes, Palarz has imported a few kids. And yes, they've helped him win. Most schools do the same. Didn't TO import the Hauser brothers a couple years back?
