: You are correct
: However there should be a point system, but top league teams should matter
: Problem with leagues is different teams in different divisions. In each league.
: Then leagues like the baseline league which is brutal.
: The current playoff structure is flawed and is need of retooling. Under the current system there are too many automatic qualifiers and it rewards team that hunt wins by scheduling weak teams to stockpile wins to get to .500 or better. Teams that finish 3rd place in a weak league sometimes even with a losing record recieve automatic qualifying status. My proposal is, 1st place teams are the only teams that get to be automatic qualifiers, do away with the .500 rule, reward teams that play a competitive schedule. Design a point system based on winning and strength of schedule. Example a Div 3 team that schedules and beats another Div 3 team recieves 2 points, No points are rewarded for a loss. If the same team plays a Div 2 school then it recieves 3 points for a win and 1 point for a loss. If the same team plays a Div 1 school then it recieves 4 points for a win and 1 point for a loss. If the same team plays a Div 4 or 5 team only 1 point for a win and no ponts for a loss. The points would be tallied and rankings are based on point total. No more biased SCIBCA ranking where coaches block their votes and have no clue about most of the teams in their Division. I could be way off base any intelligent response would be appreciated
It is best for teams with sub .500 records not to make the playoffs. This way the teams get adjusted to the divisions they earned and can try to work their way back up. Coaching has a big part to do with it more than scheduling. Look at Servite for example. Has some very bad loses and has put themselves in position not to make the playoffs. That is Servite's fault is they do not qualify. NOT the system. Win games you should win. C'Mon man. Be 100% Accountable and Responsible.
