: : : : To all the young men who play this game called basketball. If you are playing for a team that doesn't support you and the coach is running play for one or two kids. Time to find a new coach who is willing to put the time in and teach you. This is a team sport. Pick a coach that has your best interest at heart. Pick a coach who is fair. This game is suppose to be fun and build skills for life. How many actually go pro or get scholarships. Take a look at your coach at near by schools. You all have choices. Make the best choice for you. Have fun and enjoy yourself. For all of you who have done that congrats. Your are a head of the game.
: : : To all the kids on this board ( which are very few ):
: : : Don't listen to these wannabe coaches who post on this board and don't post their name and/or numbers! They stir the pot because they dream of what our high school coaches do! TRAIN THIS!
: : The guy who posted the original post - learn to spell before you offer advice on playing the low post.
: This prompts the question, at what level should the playing time number of shots taken no longer be equal. I get how the peewees playing on the 8 foot rims should be rotated every 5 minutes. Some are better than others, but their all just getting out of the starting gate. At what grade level does "you have to earn your time on the court" come into play?
It's freaking high school basketball. It's no longer about equal time or equal shots because not all players are equal. Players should be treated "fair" which is not equal. Some guys put in more work, are more athletically gifted, have more leadership, are better teammates. I'd say if you have a HS coach who still plays everyone equally or runs plays for everyone so they can "shine" and "have fun" I'd say that coach has either given up on winning/competing or he may need to get back to the YMCA.
