: : : : : : : : : : : Pacifica will upset cypress on Monday!
: : : : : : : : : : : Heard it here first
: : : : : : : : : : You have lost your mind!
: : : : : : : : : Pacifica: losses to Garden Grove (13), Valencia (4, really?), La Sierra (5-12 record), Corona (no issue), Crean (6).
: : : : : : : : : Cypress: losses to Villa Park and Tampa Catholic. Beat Valencia by 22.
: : : : : : : : : Cypress by 16. But, I hope for the sake of basketball, it's a good game.
: : : : : : : : Crean vs. Tustin game is a game to watch. Should be close.
: : : : : : : Pacifica losses to Grove (Top 3 in thier Div and 16-2, Top 20 in OC), Crean (Defending CIF Champs), Valencia (in OT, and Pacifica was up 5 with 30 secs.left apparently), Corona (#1 in Div. 3A). Yes, La Sierra loss was bad loss. The rest are not bad losses.
: : : : : : : That being said, Cypress should still be heavy favorites tonight. At home. Cypress -16 not a bad line.
: : : : : : Watch out for Crean. Getting hot now. Played tough comp. Defending CIF Champs. Here we come
: : : : : After what Crean did to the coaching staff last year, no way should anyone be rooting for them. Win a title- get fired so that someone's son can get the job. Horrible
: : : : Wait, what? See how the rich people operate. Pay-offs. Big reason why programs suffer. Look at Oaks Christian. Why does not rich daddy yo come out of stands and coach? Because he can't. All about his loser son that does not respect his daddy. Vanity.
: : : : Cypress covers the spread and beats Pacifica by 22
: : Good 'ol Clipper Darrell with the starting lineups tonight! Cypress laid wood! Good night yall!
: As expected. Which is not so much a knock on Pacifica as a testament to the quality of Cypress. Pacifica doesn't do themselves any favors by scheduling so low during nonleague as well. In recent memory, Pacifica always comes into league with a gaudy record and then struggles to finish in the top 3. Maybe sacrificing a few wins during nonleague to win a few more during league would be a good tradeoff. Not to say that would have changed last night's result, but it could be the difference maker of a 3rd vs 4th place finish. Too much focus is paid upon getting to cif, the goal should be league championship because otherwise you are just trying to get to a first round beat down by a high seed.
You couldn't be any more wrong. You said "the goal should be to win a League Championship". Huh? Too much emphasis on League. They will never win it. Shouldn't even be in this League. They wanted out.Hats off to their kids and coach for being as competitive as they are every year.
Pacifica took 2nd last year by the way. 7-3 in League (17 wins overall) all with same scheduling, and has finished top 3 many times. All with smallest attendance and talent below the rest of the league. This year they have played Garden Grove (top 3 in Div.4), El Dorado, CVC, Corona (#1 in 3A)Godinez,Loara,Portola,etc. They are 14-6. I think what they do is smart. Win games, have a winning season, not gonna beat Cypress or win league anyway. So why not win, have fun, kids enjoy, parents are none the wiser, enjoy winning season. End of year you sons team wins 17 games, winning season, take top 4 in good league, go to CIF. I'd take that. All good. Smart.
