: : : Why did Andrew Austin leave West Ranch to come off of the bench, his senior year, at Sierra Canyon? If he stayed at West Ranch he could've gotten some division 2 or 3 looks. Now nobody sees him. I know that the Foothill league aka Garbage Juice league isn't great but isn't it better than coming off the bench.
: : This a great question.. But honestly there are no real answers every situation is different. You may get a ton of opinions but none are FACTS as there is no data to support one way or the other... So to give you my opinion...
: : I say it depends on coaching and culture.. Playing 32 minutes a game and not learning and surrounded by lesser talent doesn't always move dials... Coming off the bench at a power house and playing 15-20 is way better if the coach is a dial mover and coach Komaki is...
: : Club basketball can help the situation for less playing time...
: ...lol Komaki is the SC Girls Coach. Anyhow, WR was getting a brand new HC this season, so yeah AA could have been 1st team all Foothill League for sure, EASY, maybe even player of the year in the Foothill, but then maybe he didn't like the new hire and didn't want to play the garbage schedule that they have. AND maybe he wanted to test his game in practice vs well the top team in the area/state and in the conversation for the country. Remember he started at Saugus I believe when the current Valencia Coach was at Saugus and left that situation as well, so they got a method to their movement.
Never seen the kid play but he started last night against Camarillo. Was able to get face time on the Ballervision site, so maybe its working out for him.
