: : : : It’s apparent that Luke realizes he needs more size to box out and defend on the low post. Zubac played well and open my eyes and made me wonder why Zubax hasn’t played much before last game - especially considering the Lakers have been giving up to many second chance points off the boards. Is Zubac the answer to the Lakers need for more low post presence, I previously
: : : ssumed not based upon his lack of playing time but it appears - as another poster noted- he may have simply needed a chance. As that poster said “play Zubac.” At the very least, he will improve his trade value. Sitting him on the bench doesn’t help his development or trade value at all.
: : : Kobe led by example, he led his teams by playing defense, yes he was a selfish offensive player but he played defense with heart and grit, he knew that's how you win and was team leader.
: : : LeBron plays no defense and hi team follows him by playing no defense, now we LA people understand why he only won 3 out of 8 NBA championship, he's a loser and his teammates follow his lead. Magics biggest mistake was to let the teams biggest heart, Julius Randal go. I'll Lebron will never bring a championship to LA. Lakers are turning into the Clippers and that's a shame.
: : :Takes a lot of defensive plays off .
: It is painfully obvious LeBron has lost a step. You can see he is much slower and has low reserves in his gas tank. Lakers, do not resign him after for years. Jeannie Buss, you already F'd the organization your wonderful father build by over signing Kobe to one of the stupid dumb ass deals of all time. Now LeBron saw what you did and hopes you do it again with him. STOP the freaking madness. LeBron, play some freaking D and show the young bloods what playing is about. Over paid guy you are right now.
Ehh...letting Kobe walk after tearing his Achilles would've been a shortsighted move, NO ONE was coming to LA anyway, no matter what money we offered. Terrible PR to cast off a guy who gave everything he had for the franchise.
The Lakers starting lineup when Kobe played his first game under his final contract was:
coached by Byron Scott.
The Lakers had been unwilling to negotiate an extension with D'Antoni after a 27-win season, and appeared likely to lose every other first round pick for the next few years. D'Antoni had a year left on his contract but was unwilling to coach without assurances he'd be there long term. Thankfully letting him go helped the Lakers tank and keep their picks.
Mitch and Jim Buss screwed the Lakers in 2016 with Mozgov and Deng, this epic gaffe may yet force us to salary dump LeBron for pennies on the dollar. Deng is eating up $5 million of our cap yearly thru 2022, and this is the last year the Lakers will have space to sign a star while keeping the young core together.
Back to LeBron, the bizarre lineups give him zero spacing to drive, and he's pacing himself as usual. Maybe a little too much so on defense. Looks a bit disappointed in his new teammates and has already voiced his frustration. Playing with Rondo and Ingram together is impossible, he's playing 4-on-5 when Rondo doesn't have the ball.
If Boston didn't suck too I'd be really upset right now.
