: : : : : : This information is wrong. The kid and his mom didn't like the program. Everyone is blaming the wrong person. Funny people have the time to type about a kid looking for a better situation. I get it, but let that shit go homie. Some marriages don't fit. Wish him the best and move on homie. If we got better job offers tomorrow we would be GONE. Benjamin just better be ready when he steps on the court. If he performs everyone will shutup.
: : : : : I'm all for transferring for a better situation for the family. But is that really the case here? How many situations were bad? Comparing it to a better job offer is a bad comparison. By all accounts he's 6'10" and local high school coaches don't necessarily want him. Do you know how bad you have to be to be 6'10" and Derrick "Transfer King" Taylor not really want you.
: : : : : There are rumors that he's transferring to Alemany or Village. If true, how's Alemany better? Village Chr is a program that 4 year jv players go to play varsity basketball.
: : : : : Seems like a "better situation" means "I'm tall and want to be the main focus on the team." But let me know if I'm wrong.
: : : : More transfers than not don't make sense. I understand transferring from private to public to stop wasting money on the sham tuition. But Fairfax has a varsity roster with 6 or so of the same type guard because these kids transferred in. Pasadena has Jovan Jones (St. Francis) & Dutch (Village) & we could say that doesn't make sense. Jovan started & got pt at St. Francis. What'd he expect there? It's always been, always be, a bottom level hoops program. Dutch went to Village after all the hoopers left. Nuff said. The mindset of why you chose the school you left really is carrying to the next. That's what I'd be concerned about if I was the coach at their next stop.
: : : : Look at the kid who went from Heritage, to Paraclete to Alemany. Is he at Alemany because he couldn't be the man st Paraclete? Idk but I'd be cautious if so.
: : : : Birmingham doesn't have 1 high level player. Not 1 "watch out for him" guy. They only have a "he's their best player" guy. So if Ben Todd is leaving because his handler wants him to be the man & he couldn't there then he should go back to Faith Baptist or go to Santa Clarita Christian. Sheeeeeeet, I don't even think that he'd be the man at D8 SCCS.
: : : The real shame is education is lost. Most of these guys end up nowhere. Education trumps athletics. What is also lost is majority of college coaches know about the high school coaches. Point is when a player can shine with a challenged high school coach (most are), what would he do with a college coach that can develop players? Stay where you are at and deal with the bullshit. When you get a real job, you have to deal with some dumb ass bosses. What, are you going to leave every job as well? Learning a bad pattern young man. Stop listening to people that do not love you.
: : Since you brought up the job fact. I kind of agree with transferring. There are so many jobs in the world that I am shocked at how many people stay at a job with a shitty boss and bad work environment. Who would want to stay in a bad place when you can find a job with a good boss and great work environment. When you find the right place then you stay.
: True, not all transfers make sense. I saw the Big guy sitting the bench at Bishop Mont. He doesn’t even start. First he went to Bishop, then he left Bishop, now he is back. He is good and BM is good. Not a good fit. He won’t even be the man on that team next year. They have a 6’7 stud over there that is already the best in the team. Not all transfers make sense
The big will get plenty of time. At Bishop you have to pay your dues. Just cause your 6'8" doesn't mean you walk in and are a automatic starter. That's nonsense. Most schools yes but BM- big fat NO!
