: : : : : FAKE NEWS.

: : : : NOPE, sadly this is REAL!

: : : Why so it closing?

: : Being knocked down to build new apartments, townehomes, etc. Local residents not happy.

: The issue with places like Next Level, MAP, ASC, etc. is that while they are packed on the weekends, those facilities are basically empty during the week, especially during the day.

: Between rent, insurance, and overhead, it's tough to make it work.

: The reason Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks works is that they are more of a full service facility, including chiro/sports medicine in addition to offering classes to all ages in basically all sports.

: And they charge a lot for everything there.

Ladera Sports Center was built from the ground up as a basketball/volleyball facility, totally full from 4PM on during the week and all days Sat/Sun. It was also designed as part public storage facility which is another way that the overhead gets paid (same ownership owns both). Eventual plan is to sell it to community ownership-ensures solvency of facility.
