: : : : Why is Chaminade in this? Not sure this will prep them for the Mission League, which they can compete in this year if they are ready. A bit disappointing.
: : : .500 or better to reach playoffs still....obvious is to why they are in it....sucks for the other teams in the tourney
: : ...the .500 rule is stupid.
: : I have spoken with several coaches - boys and girls - who purposely now schedule down to make the playoffs because their league is good.
: : It's the exact opposite of what you want teams to do.
: The new CIF playoffs and rules created an interesting twist. Smaller schools now rarely can win a regular season tournament because they get the big schools playing down, but bigger schools are now just happy to make CIF knowing they cant win a CIF championship because they are all bunched up and the small schools now all really think they have a shot to win in CIF.
There are families at Chaminade who are embarrassed by this approach. Just like there are families in other programs with uncompetitive coaches that make uncompetitive schedules. (Except for Santa Clarita Chr where everyone seems to think that beating Bakersfield School of the Blind by 30 makes them a national team.)
The CIF has to make a change. As much as I want to see Nade succeed, if the change happens now and Nade loses out so be it. Sports is about competition. Not easy wins and participation trophies. There are leagues to get easy wins. Join Santa Clarita Chr in their D25 league. Don't be in the Mission or have any playoffs seeding.
