: : : Serious question. He's not affiliated with a paper, doesn't have a journalism degree, didn't play professional or college sports, so I'm wondering why is he relevant on the high school sports scene; or is he relevant at all?
: : Because hardly anybody else covers high school sports! Jack has for nearly two decades.
: : Eric Sondheimer is the last full time HS journalist employed by a paper. Does the Daily News even have a weekly preps section anymore?
: Is Pollon covering high school sports or is he promoting guys that he knows?
: Tarek Fattel covers HS sports. Evan Barnes is really good but moved to Memphis. Hopefully he'll come back.
Sondheimer is a lifer and probably has another 15-20 years in him on high school sidelines.
Tarek Fattel is the lone full time prep guy for Daily News. Arguing his abilities is irrelevant; he is what there is.
Barnes is covering Memphis Tigers football. I highly doubt he is leaving a D1 college gig in an affordable place to come back here to cover valley high school sports.
I noticed Tony Ciniglio has been doing some freelance stuff for Daily News and SGV Tribune. Daily News should try and get him back.
I think basically all the SCNG papers have one preps guy, except maybe the OC Register, that seems to actually have a staff and their website is pretty cool for high school stuff.
