: : : The CIF came out with their division placements. I know they have a index, however in Division 5a there are 128 teams. 28 teams have populations of 1,000 and above. Many have well over 2000 kids enrolled.
: : : This is crazy. Large public schools playing against schools whose kids play three sports. There is a school that has 3,007 kids playing in Division 5A. Can they not divide division 5 into 3 sections? Is there a true small school division? I mean when they had 128 teams in one division (5A) did that not ring a bell? 45 in most divisions, 128 in another. Maybe i misread the divisions. Do any of you have thoughts on this?

: First off, it has been shown over an over that size of a school rarely affects competitiveness in most sports, especially a sport like basketball. Secondly look at the 2 year totals and enlarging the other divisions would not solve this. If anything, adding another division might work.

I beg to differ. A school with basketball players playing 8 man football can’t have a full practice or participate in any fall leagues or fall showcases. While a school with an enrollment of 2,000 has no problem fielding teams.
