: : : : : : : : : : : : : : So... some guy says that Santa Clarita Chr is a top 10 team in SoCal. I disagree. Here's my list of better teams. (I have more.) Where do you think that I'm wrong?

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Sierra Canyon
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Bishop Montgomery
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Harvard Westlake
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Mater Dei
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Cantwell
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Mayfair
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Long Beach Poly
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : JW North
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : ECR
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Oak Park
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Etiwanda
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Centennial
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Westchester
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Fairfax
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : St. Anthony's
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Norte Dame (yes I said it)

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Rancho Christian is going to be very very good and little Mobley might be a top 3 pick in the NBA soon. Taft is still good. Colony High is going to be solid. St Anthony lost their top big to Bishop Montgomery. EL Camino is going to be down. Oak Park looked bad this summer got beat by Shalhavet. Yes Notre Dame is a top team and Williams might be a future 1st round pick. SCC will be good and is on the bubble of being a top 10 team.

: : : : : : : : : : : : The younger Mobley is an incredible talent for his class, but why label him as a top 3 pick in the NBA so soon? He and his brother have yet to lead their team to a CIF Championship, What is he going to do at the next level? I am not trying to knock the kid, I see the potential you are talking about. With that being said, for the purposes of this discussion, I think Rancho Christian should be a top ten team in SoCal this season. Santa Clarita Christian is just another BS small private school that has recruited a group of AAU kids with some talent. (See Village Christian) Where will that program be in 5 years? If we are still talking about them in 5 years, ok. They are a talented group of high school players, but they dont have what it takes to compete with the top teams in SoCal.

: : : : : : : : : : : The Mobley brothers are good but predicting them in the nba is silly. The same with Zaire at Notre Dame. But Rancho Chr is up there & a top 10 team. Santa Clarita Chr isnt'. They're not a group of good AAU kids. They're solid local high school players who wanted guaranteed winning seasons so they all teamed up at a small school in a low division. That's fine. But let's not call them top 10 or even top 20 in the area.

: : : : : : : : : : If we're discussing top 10 teams that we're talking about players that's there now. If we're talking about programs then we have to look at players, coaches and administration.

: : : : : : : : : : Good & rising program:
: : : : : : : : : : Sierra Canyon is all in on either being good or perceived as good.
: : : : : : : : : : Harvard Westlake will be consistently good as a program because the admin and coach are aligned.
: : : : : : : : : : St. Anthony, Coach Caveness is doing a great job. He's built it up, no reason it'll change under his guidance and administration is on board. He does right by his players.
: : : : : : : : : : Crossroads is about to be a major program. They'll give Lebron the kids to build.
: : : : : : : : : : Mater Dei let's the coach get who he wants. But the players are never prepared for college.
: : : : : : : : : : JW North
: : : : : : : : : : Long Beach Poly coaches gets the most out of their players
: : : : : : : : : : Fairfax
: : : : : : : : : : Bishop Montgomery has good coaches and administration is aligned with atheletics.
: : : : : : : : : : St. Bernard, growth every year and has some really good coaches.
: : : : : : : : : : Notre Dame actually put a focus on basketball and turning things around.

: : : : : : : : : : Bad programs:
: : : : : : : : : : Alemany gives Coach Meeks the ability to do things. But he's bad at it.
: : : : : : : : : : Santa Clarita Chr we probably shouldn't even mention. They haven't beaten anybody. Every time they pass Sylmar they take L's. They also overhype themselves which bring the attention and dislikes from anyone who knows anything about basketball.
: : : : : : : : : : Village Chr is top 2 worst. Everybody knows these 2 things: Crooked Coaches coach at Village and players will not flourish there. 2-25 record with a weak schedule.
: : : : : : : : : : Inglewood. There's too much talent around to struggle. Coach Roy had a few tough years and didn't get along with admin. He's gone now but good luck to the new coach.

: : : : : : : : : How is Alemany considered a bad program? Do you know that Alemany was pure TRASH for years!!! Tray has done a fine job in building that program. He took his lumps as a head coach and has built a successful winning culture at Alemany. Just say you dont like him for whatever reason, but one thing you cant say is hes leading a bad program. Lets not forget that he has a state championship and has dominated the mission league! Chill out on that hater hooch youve been drinking!

: : : : : : : : I'm not a hater & don't hate Tray but here are facts.
: : : : : : : : Alemany hasn't dominated the mission league. Then whenever it's playoff time Alemany takes an early L because Coach Meeks can't adjust to anything.
: : : : : : : : Coach Meeks has had the most freedom by any coach in the mission & most other high schools. But he still can't build a consistent program. Dave Rebibo did it in 2 years & lost 2 key players but still going strong. And I do hate HW. Lol
: : : : : : : : Coach Meeks doesn't get guys schollys but brags when they get it. Brandon Boyd had to go to Cathedral to get his. Brandon Davis & DJ McDonald got theirs from Ryan Silver getting it for them.
: : : : : : : : Coach Meeks has done a below avejob for a guy who's AD & school let him do what he wants & get who he wants.
: : : : : : : : Alemany is a bad program. No hate. Just facts.

: : : : : : : Here's some Consistency and facts...Meeks has coached at Alemany for 15 years, 14 as head coach...took over in 2005, last losing season was 2009-10, has a state ship, cif ship, cif runner up, 4 league ships and counting, 5 league MVP's.

: : : : : : : All that to say this...BAD programs don't have the success that Alemany has had. BAD programs don't have a culture, structure, pride, or consistency as you put it. If all that is listed above is considered below average then i guess you need to add more teams to the bad programs list. And i'm not an Alemany fan (Fairfax ALL DAY), but as a real one I must give respect..the real facts are public!

: : : : : : : And I know BD and DJ they know what it is...You may not like Tray (because no facts were given) but Tray was just as instrumental as Ryan was don't get it twisted!

: : : : : : Alemany isn't a bad program. I don't consider it good either. It's just... well, Alemany. Is Coach Meeks bad? No. If I had a kid who can post sould I put him there? No. But Meeks isn't a horrible coach.
: : : : : : The run down of what he's done at Alemany sounds good. He did help a fledgling program. But the otter comments are also correct in that he has the freedom to build the program and some other coaches have done more despite a struggle from admin.
: : : : : : With that said, coaching is more than wins and loses. From what I know, Meeks has done right by his players. There are a lot of sham coaches who get praise and are crooked people. On and off the court Coach Meeks did the right things when one of his players lost a parent.
: : : : : : Alemany is not a bad program. It's definitely not in the same "lacking morals league" as Village or Oaks Chr (ssshhh, wait for it. I know what I know.)

: : : : : The freedom to build with what he has there...I think its great that he doesnt just go and accept every kid that wants to transfer to Alemany. The great thing about being a head coach is the ability to set the standards for the program. I believe he has done that. People complain on here about programs that are basically factories, bend the rules to get players and actively go out and poach players from programs, and others praise these programs for their success. Meeks does well with what he gets and may get a transfer or two but its never a kid that any of you care about until hes in an Alemany uniform. If youre not a good program, youre a bad program its that simple. You dont take advantage just because you can, and you also dont go and accept a bunch of players over the guys you have on your roster. You trust that what youre teaching them will translate to the court. Not recruit every year.

: : : : Well said!! Most coaches are selling kids out for the next best thing and telling interested parents what they want to hear.

: : : : underachieves every year. Meeks is a below average coach. Above average guy but coaching is suspect at best. Sorry.

: : So you think hes had Rosters that were deep enough to win a state championship in the open division? I dont think he has...and if you say he has then youre crazy. Teams hes lost to are solid programs!!!

: : blah blah blah for the record Santa Clarita Christian this summer went 19-0 and played no powder puffs. The weakest team they played all summer was a Sierra canyon team that was missing its big 3 but SCC still thumped them with their two 7 footers by 16 they also went 7-0 in war on the floor beating a full squad from St. Bernard to win championship. They smashed Calabasas, Alemany, Temecula, they crushed Riverside Poly by 25 who could beat most the teams your bragging about. SCC just goes out plays basketball and get wins!

Are you really bragging about summer win lmao!!
